Southwestern 35 Harlan County 8

Featured Replies

Final.

Did anyone see this coming?

At one point this game was 8-7. The score of the second half was 0-0. Southwestern had the ball inside the 4 yard line and fumbled it away late. They also did the same thing later on inside the 25.

From what Coach Saylor was saying on the radio the bears were getting dominated on the line.

Those 5 plays were too much for the Bears to overcome. I'm actually surprised HC had that many yards on the ground, Southwestern played a great game, never gave up anything that was back breaking, whereas HC never could get the ball to bounce right. Having played 1 game previously, the Warriors looked much more comfortable out there. They will have a good season.

Robbie Lewis is a BEAST on the SW line!!

A 2-0 start is nice way to begin the season for SW. Tough road ahead though. Congrates on tonights win!

Congrats to the Warriors on a great effort tonight and a great 2-0 start to the season. They came out and just flat out took it to the Black Bears. The Warriors just pushed them around and physically dominated them from the get go. I think Harlan County may have a tough go of it in 5A this year.

I would still like to see Green get 20 to 25 touches at TB in the I formation without playing LB every down on "D".

Our Black Bears never looked in sync! Never Caught a break!!! Block a punt inside the 10 yard line and have the punter pick it up and run 20 yards! I think we got shell shocked tonight.

I believe they will work everything out and be alright. I would like to see TJ stay at TB, but seems like he runs better from the QB position! McMillian really stepped it up tonight a bright spot and although they gave up 35 I believe our Defense played pretty well.

I came into this game not knowing what to expect from the Bears and now I'm saying let's see what happens next week. Go Bears!!!!

:ohbrother:

I'm just gonna have to sleep on this one. One positive thing tonight.......it didn't rain.

Warriors looked really good for the second straight week. Black Bears not as far off as many may fear. What parts of the game I saw they have some nice players and fought hard tonight, but like others said just couldn't get a break.

Good Luck to both teams rest of the way.

The SW defense played great for the second week in a row.. I think the HC defense was paying too much attention to Mote and Floyd lit them up.. Not much time to savor the win... Henry Clay coming to town on Fri...

Go Warriors!

I also thought the "D" played good as a group. They just gave up a couple of big plays. I still say the Bears best "O" this year would be get Green some rest on "D" and let him dot the "I" behind that big O-line.:thumb: The score makes this game look like a bad game to watch. SW did not drive the ball they just made big plays. Take away a few big plays and this one would have been a 14-7 type game. Good Luck next week to both teams.

This score is a big surprise. It sounds like the Warriors had to much speed for Harlan County.

I feel that the Black Bears offense would be more effective with Marcus McMillian starting at tailback. Green is not a big-time runner. He is slow, and good for short yardage situations. With that said, why not just leave Green at QB, and let McMillian get the bulk of the carries, with Cody Taylor spelling him, and Shaquille Clark getting some touches at fullback.

It's not going to matter who gets the bulk of carries this year if the line doesn't hold. Southwestern's defense had their way with us I'm afraid. The coaches will review it and fix the problems I am sure.
