Not sure what you mean, but Xgrad brought the subject up. Why don't you question him/her about it? Fifth year seniors are not all that uncommon. Parents hold their kids back for several reasons in grade schools, but to hold their kids back for athletic reasons, is not right.

Was this even a game. Listening to the radio, Principal/Coach Bocko of Butler said his kids work hard every day and he felt bad for them the first half. I suppose Butler won't schedule Trinity anymore.

I'm sure other teams can say the same thing about turnover..it's part of the game. Congrats to Central. Now, will Central schedule the likes of Trinity and X on an annual basis?

Your comment about "being held back a year" is more truer than you think. I know of a few BGP'ers can name alot of players on T and X who are 5th year seniors. Huge advantage for the kid and team, but a disadvantage to the kid to enrolls in school "on time".

I was at the game, and yes, the receivers this year aren't like the twins. Where Smyth releases the ball makes it appear more like a rope, but Stein and Petrino threw plenty of long TD passes in the past. Trinity produces good QB's each year and I'm sure Smyth will be included at year end, but there's no need to compare after one game.

Agree. Arm strength does not equate to accuracy either, and that is why Stein and Petrino was so go at passing.

WOW, what a comment. Smyth may have some moves, but in no way, shape or form has a stronger arm than Petrino or Stein. I know, it's your opinion and we all have one, but wait till the end of the season and see how his stats are against the past two QB's. If my memory serves me, I think Stein broke some records last year. And, last years BG team had some D1 players and I did not see one D1 player the other night for BQ, maybe thats the reason for the 11 point difference.

I second the nomination for the band. As for the game, well...it's a start. Hopefully it's a start to good things this season. Lots of work on both sides will come out of todays films.

But when you get to the 4th string, X would rely on the run or pass in the flats. I don't think X will have to worry to much. I'm sure Bruscher and Buehner will get them to the state final.

Now Now, X had speed at WR last year, but maybe it was the delivery method. Yes, Ballard does have some skilled palyers, but not enough for Friday night. I didn't comment of the substitutions for X, but that tell me that X's coaching staff worked hard in the off season. :thumb:

Who was Kragthorpe's back up? He seemed to have a stronger arm than Kragthorpe. The score of this game doesn't tell the entire story. Moeller was in the game until the end. The difference was Trinity juniors where in better shape the Moe's sophomores.

I thought the game would have been closer, as well. I do wish Ballard the best with their new coach. As for X, Ballards offense or defense wasn't that much of a measuring stick to gauge X's true ability. Should be interesting in about a month.

This will be fun. Number is already in my cell, providing it lasts this season.

This is the key phrase "barring no injuries". Hasn't Finch been hurt just about every year he's been on X's varsity team? Hasn't that injury slowed the mighty Tigers and possibly preventing X of state titles? No one wishes injury but it's part of the game. IMHO there is no doubt Whiting should win Mr Football, but only if one part of his game is improved upon this year.

X ends up winning in a close one. Let's say 21-20.

This game would have been nice to see the last few years, but HHS didn't want any part of Brohm, Petrino or Stein.

Why would Coach Leach ever leave Trinity with his kid being a senior? I thought the players loved him as a coach. Hopefully Coach Leach doesn't give Lex Cath all of T's secrets, so this game could be a close one.

No I didn't apply. I have no real knowledge of the game besides stats. As I know, you are very good at stats. 50-6 seems lopsided but doesn't always tell the real story. Good luck this season.

How did the X's QB's perform? Heard Buehner may be alittle quicker and accurate with the pass than Brucster. Is this true? Would love to watch X vs Ballard again, like last year. If Ballard ran their QB last year, X would have started with an 0-1 record. Sounds like Curtis needs to go back to the drawing board.

Trinity looked solid. Several players were huge. Either too much power lifting or too much food. OL didn't appear to lose a step over last year, and I thought this was going to be a concern. Hats off to Smyth, he did a fine job. Good luck this season.
