Trinity 17 Bowling Green 0

Featured Replies

I'd say the BG defense played well and the T offense put a couple bullets in their own foot. The weather certainly did not hep either. Trinity's D was looking good. Cam looked like Fran Tarkenton running around and throwing a TD bomb! Several receivers involved in conditions where most teams wouldn't dare pass. T certainly didn't light up the scoreboard, but pitching a shutout on the road is a good accomplishment. Nice game men.

I love the shutout.....our offensive points? I am not concerned, they will come, and will do so in bunches...tonight, with the conditions, and the competition, it not bode well for our offense to have prodigious. Tomorrow's film sessions will be rough, but that's a good thing in early September.....man, we have a lot of work to do.

Good luck to both teams on the rest of their seasons.

I nominate as game MVP the Bowling Green Band. As they took the field at half the mega monsoon hit.... big time. They were not phased and provided great entertainment. I find it interesting that the game could be suspended because of lightening in the area yet the band [some holding big metal objects] remained on the field!

I second the nomination for the band. As for the game, well...it's a start. Hopefully it's a start to good things this season. Lots of work on both sides will come out of todays films.

Both teams played in horrible conditions. Even with an umbrella we were so wet that it was like we jumped into a swimming pool with our clothes on. It was horrible! Bowling Green's D was wonderful last night. The O needs a little work. I think if the weather was better, we would have pulled this thing off. It has been a long while that we have not scored in a game.

Our God daughter is in the band, so, I thank you....and have to agree! The cheerleaders went out on the field with the band during their last routine....they also acted like nothing out of the ordinary was going on!

I hate that you all were there and we did not get to see you. Maybe next time. I hope that you all had a great time in BG!

I am not trying to turn this thread sour, but if the weather was better, you don't think we would've performed with more success?

....As would we have. We had a game under our belt, and home field advantage. As some had stated in another thread, T has a slow start. I really think we could have done it, however, it is neither here nor there because the weather was not good.

Good luck to both teams in the future!:thumb:

I believe this was BG's first home field regular season loss since 2002. Sounds like it's a tough environment.

Trinity starts out slow every year (if a 17 point shutout win on the road against the #3 team in 5A is considered slow.) I do believe the Rocks will show marked improvement week to week as the offensive line congeals and the skilled players become more simpatico.

Defensively, holding BG to 3 first downs the entire game is quite impressive. Good start to the season.

BG is very well coached. They stopped stuff that T usually has success with, e.g., the bootleg pass and WR screens. T QB Cam Smyth showed his bona fides last night. I think he has a better arm than Petrino or Stein. T played an excellent first quarter then took the second quarter off, both offensively and defensively. The D played pretty well except for that quarter, when BG,s 2 RB's, Barksdale and Fields (I think they are) ran very hard and squirted out of tackles.

Both teams had penalties and stupid (excuse me) plays/penalties.

T's OL needs a lot of work or seasoning, or both.

Unlike many,I thought T would win by about 2 TDs and be happy to get out of town with a W. Actually, T won by more than they did last year at Trinity (11 points).

Nice job ROCKS.

Any news on the JV game today against Cincy St. X?
