Sounds like the weather hampered both O's in this one but T won and that is who I had picked.

We had a fun time in Bowling Green! I spoke with a number of BG fans and traded thumbs up thoughts for both teams. I don't think the weather would have changed the outcome of the game. I think T's overall team speed would have controlled the game. The Purples have some fine players and should do real well as the season progresses! IMHO, my only concern for BG was the quarterback (size and arm strength), makes them a little one dimensional. T's offensive line needs to improve and will. The field conditions made it very difficult for both teams to move the ball. Both teams will improve and have great seasons! Good luck! GO ROCKS! #19

Any news on the JV game today against Cincy St. X?

 

Trinity dominated this game on the offensive side of the ball! Kragthorpe looked great running the offense. Darin Nix was catching and running all over the field. They are truly the future for Rocks football. Cincy St. X had some huge kids! It seemed they couldn't make the big plays when they needed too. Good luck to all the kids who played and I look forward to seeing the Cincy St. X varsity in two weeks... GO ROCKS! #19

BG is very well coached. They stopped stuff that T usually has success with, e.g., the bootleg pass and WR screens. T QB Cam Smyth showed his bona fides last night. I think he has a better arm than Petrino or Stein. T played an excellent first quarter then took the second quarter off, both offensively and defensively. The D played pretty well except for that quarter, when BG,s 2 RB's, Barksdale and Fields (I think they are) ran very hard and squirted out of tackles.

Both teams had penalties and stupid (excuse me) plays/penalties.

T's OL needs a lot of work or seasoning, or both.

Unlike many,I thought T would win by about 2 TDs and be happy to get out of town with a W. Actually, T won by more than they did last year at Trinity (11 points).

I know, it's your opinion and we all have one, but wait till the end of the season and see how his stats are against the past two QB's. If my memory serves me, I think Stein broke some records last year. And, last years BG team had some D1 players and I did not see one D1 player the other night for BQ, maybe thats the reason for the 11 point difference.

Roc4ever....Let me clarify my observation. I think Smyth has a stronger arm than both Petrino and Stein and I mean no disrespect to either of them. I also think that Petrino and Stein had, at least to this point, a better contingent of receivers to throw to than does Smyth. I've seen Smyth throw more "ropes" than I recall the other two throwing. I am not saying he will have better passing stats than his predecessors or that he is a better QB, although I think he will develop into an excellent QB. I like the kid's poise, grit and guts.

Were you at the Bowling Green game when he scrambled for what seemed like 10 seconds, then threw a dart into the near left corner of the end zone to Radcliff for a touchdown? That was impressive.

I totally agree and that is meant with no disrespect to the current receivers. Players like the "Twins" just do not come along very often. Plus they had a few years of experience under their belts. Plus speed. I know we are just one game into it - but think tcjkbt might be onto something. Let's wait and see if he is borne out .

I was at the game, and yes, the receivers this year aren't like the twins. Where Smyth releases the ball makes it appear more like a rope, but Stein and Petrino threw plenty of long TD passes in the past. Trinity produces good QB's each year and I'm sure Smyth will be included at year end, but there's no need to compare after one game.
