Best move Jeremy could have made. I like Coach Hoof, classy guy who is fun to be around. But facts are facts. Raceland concentrates on Football and Basketball as far as facilities go. My son played varsity ball there from 7th grade on. Not one thing was ever done to improve the playing field or any other part of the complex. Couldn't even get new uniforms. Score board was terrible, sound system was awful. Didn't even have running water in the concession stand. there's no excuss for that when other sports gets new equiptment every year. When you have to bend over with a can of spray paint to put lines down the base paths you have a problem. So, I can't blame Barr for transferring, go where the school supports its baseball. Very good article and well deserved. I've watched him play the last 3 years. He's very exciting to watch. That tells you how impressive Racelands defense was last year holding him under 100 yards every time the two teams met. Can't see anybody beating them this year. :thumb:

My only problem with your post is this. If a player goes out for a team "just to do it," or that he thinks "orange looks good on him or her, then there's a very good chance that he or she will wind up on the sideline with some sort of injury. You better be ready to take or give a lesson to someone. Because if you don't, I promise you will get hurt. The sport of football is way to physical to do it just for fun or because you look good in orange. If it's not in your blood, stay in the stands!!! :thumb:

So easy to talk proudly of your team on a year when you know your opposing team lost a lot to graduation. I agree Ashland is very good this year,And they should have the advantage. But, you can bet one thing for sure. The Rams will show up and give you everything they have until the final horn sounds. If the Tomcats win, then congrats to them, but you don't have to tell us Ram fans about "SHOWS", we've marched into "PUTNAM STADIUM" for the last 3 years and put on a "SHOW". Does anyone know if the game is tonite or tomorrow. Word has it there's a big chance of rain, wouldn't want to mess up that pretty field!!!:madman:

Don't know if your're right or wrong on the making of schedule by the host team. However if you're correct that's crazy, because if I have a Sheppard and I'm the host team, you can bet your life on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday schedule. I think the best-of-three should be 2 on Monday and a third on Tuesday (in neccessary). Make is as even as possible. Then if weather plays a factor, sorry about your luck. Just my thoughts however. :idunno:

Yes, I believe he can. I don't like the set-up from the start. This series should have been scheduled on 3 straight days. Then if it rains so be it. I don't have a dog in this fight, but in the best-of-three series, no team should be able to throw their #1 twice. The series should be as equal as possible. Not saying that East could never beat Sheppard, but the advantage has to go to Lawerence. I know people are going to dis-agree with me, this is just an innocent bi-standards opinion. :thumb:

He did make the call based on the rule, he said he touched the plate, bottom line! You're correct, when he came out and argued the touching of the plate, he was within the rules. But when he followed it up with his actions after the game, he was out of line!

Sounds like to me you have 2 different thoughts on the touching of the plate. The umpire was showing the Coach with his plate shoe, that he felt he hit the back point of the plate. The coach felt he didnt. Either way it's a judgement call. The ump was right on top of the play, the coach, in the dug-out. What makes you think he knew the kid didnt touch the plate? Did you ask him? Either way, there was going to be an argument. I promise you this, no I dont advocate not making the correct call. But, if you come to the plate on an ump, and try to show him up,you're asking for what happens next. If you don't think it happens, you don't watch much sports.

In no way would I say meaningless. Would you rather play a winner of a district or a loser. I'm sure Coach Hoof and Coach Logan will tell you it's a big win. Going into the regional tournament on a winning streak is big. Winning the district could let you throw your number 2 in the first round of the regional tournament if the draw is right. Not to say I'm correct, from the 1st base side, the bunt didn't hit the batter. The ball shot straight up off the ground in front of the plate. Can't reply on the missing of home plate, players had my view blocked. However, that's begging as far as I'm concerned. Had the kid hit a triple and missed second, (or first) then you have an argument. But to question a player missing home plate on a home run, come on, you should be questioning the pitch that was called. As hot as Bradley had been, he would have had to have a 10 foot 9 iron to hit the pitch that should have been called. If the ball did hit the batter on the squeeze play, I doubt him getting that call anyway after the fit he through on the home run. :thumb: I will say this, by far the best game to have watched in the first round. :thumb:

I remember playing Bourbon County my Senior year on a road trip. I got the pleasure of guarding Royce. Probably the quickest guard I ever played against. I felt pretty good holding him to 12 points. We beat them on their home floor 52-51. And the next night we were destroyed by Henry Clay who went on to win the State Tournament. :isurrender:

Wasn't at the game, sometimes those decisions are made based on the hitter. If they have a hard time making contact, putting the ball in play is better than not hitting at all. :thumb:

Not sure about that, win, maybe. Run away with, I don't think so. Elliott beat Mason in regular season, and Shelby Valley beat Elliott in the All "A", so I don't think it will be a run away for either team. I look for a 5-10 point win for whoever might win.:thumb:

I think in the end, once again, no inside game will cost Elliott. Every time they lose all I hear is, Elliott had an off night shooting. With no inside game, there is no time for an off night. I just don't think Elliott can shoot well enough for that many games to win it all. And without that inside game, it will cost them in the end. :thumb:

Not sure I agree with that. Not the same type player, but would never say not in the same league. Metz can flat out play. Averging better than 24 points per game isn't far from Ferguson numbers. Ferguson may shoot the 3 better, but let him try to stop Metz in the paint. Isn't gonna happen. Two great athletes with different styles of game. While Ferguson is a great player, I would never say Metz isn't in the same league!

I watched the game from behind the Russell bench. I'm not going to get involved in the argument about Brooke Keeton. But, I'll just say this, I've told my son this for as long as he's played any kind of sports. "Everytime you put the uniform on, regardless of the sport, if you don't respect the game, the game will not respect you." My point is this, Brooke has tons of talent. I understand that emotions run deep on the court. The desire to win sometimes let those emotions get you in trouble unless you control them. If you don't control them, this is when the game loses respect for you and makes you look like the bad guy or girl. So Brooke, use the talent that's been given to you. You're as smooth in the paint as I've seen. Just remember to respect the game and I promise in the end, the game in return will respect you!! Good-luck.:thumb:

I know I don't have a dog in this fight anymore, but I am still a Ram fan and want to see success with their baseball program. Coach hoof is a great teacher of the game and a wonderful person as well. I would never try to tell him how to do his job. But what I would like to see is this. I think you should take your #1, 2 & 3 pitchers throwing against the starters in practice. Let those guys get use to seeing what lies ahead when the season starts. I know they see a lot of live pitching in Florida, but they need this in practice. They don't have to throw a lot, but 25-30 pitches a day (once it gets warm), would be great. Has to be the 52 points. Shelby Valley is just as talented as Elliott, and that's a compliment to Valley. I think the difference is that if Elliott shoots the three poorly, they lose. Elliott does not have an inside game. And to win a state championship of any kind in basketball, you need to have a dominant player on the inside. If you look at the stats on the year so far, Elliott hasn't shot the three for a high percentage consistantly. This loss shouldn't be considered a upset at all, you had two good teams doing battle and the over all best team won. This loss may be what Elliott needed to get ready for the rest of the season. They can get back in the gym and work on the inside game and try to use Timmy Knipp more as a post up player. For the rest of the 16th region, I'm not sure I would want to be their next opponent.:thumb:

If Shelby Valley or Hazard would happen to beat Elliott, I wouldn't consider it an upset. Both of those teams are good enough to beat them. They do not play in regular season, so who knows until they play who is the better team. So, what your saying is anytime a #2 beats a #1 it's an upset. I don't agree at all. If Elliott had already beat Shelby or Hazard 2 times this year and then lost to them, then you might call it an upset. But, without ever playing, who knows!:thumb:

Didn't Stringfellow, Hieny & Scaggs start last year with Madden being the DH? Madden hit as well as anybody in the Post season for Greenup last year. So in reality, it's not 7 of the 9 starters returning. Although I have to admit, their pitching looks solid. Good-Luck seniors, I wish a healthy and strong year for all of you. :thumb:

Making three straight trips to the Elite 8 is a great accomplishment, they've (Greenup) have represented ourregion well. I consider power-houses the teams you see in the final 4 year in and year out. So, don't take me wrong, I wish Greenup the best of luck. I have to root for the Rams first though. Even though My son played lots of those games with those guys, I have to pull for the guys still remaining at Raceland that he played with.:thumb:
