I am anxious to see how Mills from Corbin plays against Eastern. In the 13th he was one of the two quickest guards in the region. He is the big X- factor for Corbin against Eastern. If he can get Corbin into good sets in the half-court, I like Corbin's chance of pulling off a win. On the other hand we could just see how much of a speed difference they are between the 13th region guards and Eastern guards. I still think the winner of this game will be in the finals. Corbin has great length and can score in bunches and Eastern won a regional tourney out of Louisville and won the LIT. Even though I have not seen them play, that is enough info for me.

I think Harlan Co. will have two of the best players in the mountains. TJ Green 6'0 190 RB/LB. I would like to see him one season just @ the TB spot. He has played everything from FB to QB, but has never got the full load of carries @ TB. I think that is the only reason he is not mentioned when you talk about tops in the mountains @ TB for 09. Also, you have James Ball 6'0 275 OL/DL. I think the sky is the limit for this kid with his speed for his size. I look for him to be one of the top players up front in the mountain area.

I think this is the best mountain showing of teams @ the Sweet 16 in several years. I think if Corbin can win that first game then they could be in the finals. Shelby Valley also has a great chance of bringing home the gold from Rupp. Maybe it is time for the old mountain boys to bring home the respect they had in years past. Fans @ Rupp tend to get behind the teams from Eastern Ky. when they pull of a "W" or two. Good Luck all Eastern Ky. teams.

:thumb: I agree I think he will be the best big man in the tourney. I think he is a D-1 prospect. I also think a kid that is not mentioned on anyone's list is Madison Johnson from Corbin (6'4 junior guard). I think he is one of the best Junior's in the state. Those going down to the Sweet 16 remember the name Madison Johnson (possible 1st team All- State player next season).

I would rank this the best first round game in the Sweet 16. I would put the Eastern vs Corbin game second.

Phares is a very good player, but they still have three D-1 type players in the starting 5. How many teams in the state can say they have this much talent on the court. Congrats to Lex. Cath and the coaching staff.

If Corbin can win that first game, then I think they have a very good chance of winning the Sweet 16. It could be a all mountain final with Corbin against Elliot or Shelby Valley. Maybe Mountain Basketball will get some of that old respect back.

I hate that for this kid, he was a very solid player for Scott Co., but they still have 3 other 1st team All State type players in the starting 5. They still have more talent and depth than any other team in the state without him in the post. Good luck to him and his future, but I still think Scott Co. should win the state based on talent.:thumb:

Congrats to Clay Co. how many regional titles does that school hold on the girls side? Harlan Co. has a very talented team with good guards and size on the inside. I think they have 4 or 5 starters back next season, but the bad thing is the Tigers do not have a senior on the team. Looks like Clay Co's girls could be the champs in the 13th for the next several years.

South vs Corbin and South pulls out the win. I think if we have this match-up the nerves may kick in because South has beat them before in this situation. Although I think Corbin and M'boro are 1 and 2 based on individual talent.

What do you guys think about this question? During tourney time the name on the front of the jersey means a bunch before the game even starts. Example: Think about how many games a team like Clay Co. won because the opposite team new they was playing Clay in the 80's.

I agree very good post from Odessa. I think Coach Wright from South Laurel and Jones from Harlan Co. are as good of Coaches you will find in Eastern Ky.:thumb:

Young team or not that does not go over very good with the fans from Clay Co. :thumb: I also agree Clay has some very good players, but I think Clay should have let Hooker go one on one more.

I think North plays more Corbin's style, the Hounds will win big. I would also say the Knox fans are a little upset. I think they was one of the teams that had a shot @ Corbin. Congrats to North Laurel.

I thought Jones had a good game plan and the Harlan Co. kids gave max effort. Harlan Co. missed a boat load of easy shots in the first half. In the end the Corbin depth and talent took control of this game. This was a better game than I thought it would be. Congrats and Good Luck to Corbin and good effort by the Harlan Co. players.

Corbin has way to much talent in this one, but again the Harlan Co. kids play hard, but do not have a big scoring option. I still am anxious to see how the Hounds play after beating HC by 30 in the regular season and what tricks the veteran Jones has under his hat for this game. Stranger things have happened in the 13th region.

I think B-ville will pull this one off in the end. M'boro is also loaded with talent @ three key positions. They will need another Richie Farmer type performance from Brown to win this game.

Corbin is loaded with talent this season. The Harlan kids will play hard and physical with Corbin, but the hounds will have to much fire power for the bears.

I am going with North Laurel because I still think Knox may look ahead to Corbin.

I think Clay has better talent other than the big kid from South, but I think South will pull this one out in the end.

First round- Look for North Laurel to pull off an upset against a Knox team that will be looking ahead to Corbin. -South in a low scoring game. -M'boro still having a hang over from first district title since 97 and the 49 point game from Brown (B-ville pulls of the upset). -The Corbin vs Harlan Co. (Corbin has the big edge on talent but I think the Bears slow this one down and play very physical against the Redhounds. Corbin 66- Harlan Co. 52.:thumb: In the end I think Corbin will win the Region and have a shot @ being in the finals of the sweet 16 against Holmes or Scott Co. if they can win that first round game. This may be the best draw the 13th region has had in 10 or 15 years.

They should if you go based on:thumb: talent, but FC or Lex Cath. could pull off a possible upset.

:thumb: The Harlan County team plays hard and is pretty good on "D" but they do not have a big time scorer like the rest of the teams in the tourney. Corbin has way to much talent in this game. The rest of the games could be very interesting. Looking at the sweet 16 brackets, Corbin if they make it could be in the finals if they can win the first game against a team like J-town.
