  1. I believe that Ben was one of the leading rebounders in the EYBL this past year. It is pretty apparent that NCC has sufficient depth, but why not use it? I have heard several say Wurtz should get more minutes to spell Ben, Wrobleski is a garbage man and I know that Austin Neff would be seeing significant minutes at just about every school in NKY. Have heard it said that this is not Dawn's style, well the style he has employed has not exactly gotten them to the promised land the last few years despite a wealth of talent. Is this the year where maybe the expectations are not quite as high and they get the monkey off their back? If I am an NCC fan, I think I want Holy Cross to win this game. It seems that the last few years that the All A State Tourney has taken a little gas out of the tank when the regional tourney rolls around.
  2. Still nothing in Fort Thomas and I am not complaining.
  3. Why not expected? Isn't an opportunity to play better than anything.
  4. That is what you get for playing football and being a Junior or lower grade. Have not seen much of Wrobleski on the hardwood, but Neff is certainly capable of giving them quality minutes no matter what stage of the game.
  5. Now that makes more sense to me. I do agree with Clyde to a certain extent, however game tape does not show me how the kid does live. Realize time is money, but just think tape can sometimes make a kid look better than he might actually be. Also hard to measure the intangibles without seeing them play in person at least once or twice.
  6. I am theorizing on what I have seen involving college recruiting over numerous years. It has gotten even worse in the last 10 years or so IMO.
  7. A 5 star does not turn out to be a dominant college player or a kid not even "starred" ends up having a great college career. I realize that a lot of these rankings are dependent on the parent traveling the camp circuit and spending their money in hopes of landing their kid a college offer or offers. There are many many stereotypes that are placed on what type of player in high school makes a successful college player, however each and every year we hear of numerous kids that are/were walk-ons that turn out to be pretty good football players even though they do not meet the "eye candy" test. Just curious what Drew Barker's star ranking was out of high school? We then hear grumblings all year about how he should have been the QB at Kentucky. He finally does get a few starts and still has 3 years to play, yet we hear how great the guy they just recruited is and that he will compete this year for playing time. Question is was Drew over or under evaluated or is it simply that Kentucky has not developed him like many of the other supposed 3, 4 and 5 star recruits that they have signed. An even better example would be the Elam kid from John Hardin. All these stars and Alabama is a final choice and he has yet to be a dominant player at the collegiate level after two years.
  8. I heard last night at the Highlands game that Ben was done for the year.
  9. I would venture to bet that they miss almost as much as they get it right. Just look at the kid that played at Clemson.
  10. Interesting observations in this thread to say the least.
  11. I have heard grumblings that they will be attempting to get back into the OVC in football in the very near future. Any truth to these grumblings?
  12. I am with you here Clyde. Didn't Sullivan transfer from Walton to NCC in winter time and play baseball for NCC in the spring? Never heard anything about going from public to private, but I believe it can be used opposite as in I can no longer afford the tuition and thus am going to attend the public school in my area.
  13. Who ya got and why? Unless this game has been cancelled for some reason.
  14. Interesting thing was "the run" of the game occurred in the late 3rd quarter with a small lineup that pressed full court and was never to be seen again and quite possible never again.
  15. I am going to say one thing here. First of all, I was not at the game so I cannot comment on the banging that was or was not occurring. Many of you say you are questioning coach Dawn, but it sure reads like you are taking shots at Ben. The kid apparently had an off night which does happen at times. I would also hope that he does not attempt to adapt his game to satisfy all of the Saturday morning coaches. Fact is the kid is not paying to attend college which is a testament to his work ethic and most importantly "HIS GAME" and not the game everyone thinks that he should play. Last time I checked, this was not a regional tourney game so there is time for NCC to make whatever adjustments the coaching staff feels are necessary.
  16. Could the real key for this game be Anderson, Anderson, Ludwig, Neff and Wurtz versus Fredrick, Lenhof, Heppler and Massie? If one or several step up big in this game it could be the difference between a W and an L. I think CCH tries to keep the ball out of Weyer's hands at all cost and make others beat you. NCC will force the young guys of CCH to come up big by putting a ton of pressure on CVH with the Anderson twins. 10 fouls there my friend which allows NCC to really guard him tough once he crosses the half court line.
  17. Fines mean absolutely nothing to these idiots. If the NFL really wants to corral this behavior start taking games and game checks away and I bet it will change pretty darn quick. Porter and Munchak should have been suspended for a game because their conduct to me is worse than any that took place on the field. Also, how was Shazier not fined for his obvious hit to the head of Bernard?
  18. Tanner Morgan of Ryle for sure and I would think Dante Hendrix from Cooper might get some looks as well.
  19. The turnovers in most cases are self-inflicted and result most times from being out of control and trying to force things that just are not there. Also a lot of the turnovers are at the most inopportune times. Poor shot selection has also been an issue at times as well. This team cannot afford to give away possessions with poor shots and turnovers. A good missed shot you can certainly live with, but poor ones in combination with turnovers can turn a close game into a double digit deficit in a hurry. Several times last night guys were standing on the 3 point line unguarded and knocked down shots because the ball was moving and one extra pass led to a wide open look.
  20. And what you said there in your last sentence is why Kentucky continues to struggle. Yes the kid had/has size, but technique was not very good then and is not much better now. To me, way too much emphasis is placed on how the kid looks rather than seeing him perform in game situations that are not just highlight tapes. Biggest problem I see with college recruiting these days. Guess that is why you have so many walk-ons having success because what they bring to the table each and every day cannot be measured.
  21. Actually last night they did not, but thanks for asking. Glad to know that they are on everyone's mind though. Must be a slow day for you if you took the time and energy to make this totally meaningless post.
  22. Did not need the still picture to prove anything, heard it directly from the horse's mouth what happened. Love those that simply continue to try and sugarcoat it and say it is okay. Only takes one kid getting seriously injured from this nonsense and then you will have a situation that no one wants to have on a basketball court.
  23. To me, he is a prime example of what is wrong with UK Football. Supposedly the choices were down to UK and Alabama, yet he chose UK. Sure he saw the field pretty much right away at UK but has yet to show much of anything after 2 years. Would he have even seen the field at Alabama or has he simply not been coached up at UK like he would have at UK. The one game I saw him in live action I thought he had potential, but needed some work, especially on his physique.
