  1. Yeah it is a me thing for sure. What in the world does this site have to do with anything regarding an AP all state team? Nothing. No one asking anyone to feel sorry about anything, just calling it like I see it. This team is flawed and the AP should be embarrassed with the product that they put out in print. I am done with this thread as it is time to move on and make some more important decisions, like what offer to accept.
  2. Not a question of A KID making the list, but rather ignoring an entire section of the state. Not sure why people cannot understand that. Plenty of deserving kids that got the short end of the stick. If Louisville was completely left out of the process, would you be complaining? Sure you would.
  3. It was already stated by Clyde earlier that NKY does not have a vote. The local media outlet is the Cincinnati Enquirer and according to Clyde the beat writer for high school sports in NKY is told that he does not get a vote. This is not a question of someone not voting at all, but rather not even being given the opportunity to vote period. Thus you are taking the entire northern section of the state completely out of the mix.
  4. Think the score was actually 61 to 58. Free throws again decide this one. Still some trying to do too much and not letting game come to them.
  5. Do not let any "facts" get in the way of your parady. 2 kids from NKY receive honorable mention, nuff said. Yeah I will defend my kid to the nth degree and instead of making wise cracks, why don't you go and look at some of these kids HUDL highlights that they have compiled and get back with me.
  6. The system has been flawed for quite some time and to be honest print media is on the way out so why should an member of the AP really even give a hoot. They are more concerned with whether or not they will have a job tomorrow.
  7. Not sure what a solution is especially in todays print media. Sure there are many guys/girls that cover sports in NKY that could at least offer up some names, but no it is easier to simply say you do not qualify and thus no kids from NKY get their just do.
  8. Since you want to treat this as a joke, I will give you my son's stats for this year and you tell me if he should have been on the team somewhere. 46/46 PAT's 11/16 FG's with a long of 46 and 3 of 5 misses were from 52 yards and longer. A large majority of kickoffs landed in the endzone if not landing out the back of the endzone. Does he deserve a mention? The Hendrix kid had something like 8 interceptions on defense and I believe was the leading receiver in 6A and he gets no mention. Bo Hebel of Highlands is a "pancake" machine and he warrants no consideration. Brent Slusher makes team as running back and he only played there after Ethan Stringer got hurt. Another kid who could/should have gotten mention. The Lawrence kid was a dominating lineman for NCC and he gets no mention? I will quit there and suggest maybe you go take a look at these kids highlight tapes and tell me they cannot even garner a mention. Done on the topic of this "joke" of a team.
  9. No. The bickering is the fact that one of the biggest areas in the state is not represented because the Cincinnati Enquirer apparently does not have the "right" to place a vote. Would be the same arguments heard if it happened in Louisville, Lexington, the Mountains or Western Kentucky.
  10. See the post below. Explains a lot now doesn't it??? This "supposed" all state team is completely flawed when you simply remove sections of the state, one of which I would argue is behind only Louisville in quality football year in and year out.
  11. Is that really why he left? Would like confirmation of that since I had heard this would be happening before he was even replaced. At the end of the day, this program simply is what it is. One good year out of every 5 or 7 years is what you are going to get as long as they are participating in the SEC.
  12. And there it is. Not picking on you Clyde, but really really sad that a state puts out an all state team and completely ignores an entire section.
  13. What team is this? If this is the AP team they should be 100% embarrassed to even put this out there. 2 kids from NKY get honorable mention. Why publish an all state team that leaves of a chunk that plays some of the best football in the entire state? My kid getting no recognition what so ever speaks volumes along with several others. Waiting for the excuse of no writers in NKY. This team is worse than the one the Courier Journal put out.
  14. Lets expound on this a bit. So Towles could not run the zone read so they scrapped the planned running game and thus struggled the entire season rather than making the obvious decision of changing QB's. So Towles was "entitled"? Who made that decision?
  15. Who said anything about him "hitting" anyone? I will say it again, based upon what I heard happened, he has played his last high school game at Newport and anywhere in NKY.
  16. If what I heard Mullins did, he is no longer playing basketball at Newport or anywhere in NKY. Obviously not just a "temper tantrum" that led to him being escorted from the premises.
  17. 2-17 from the charity stripe, some of which were front ends. 14 to 14 after 1 and then the shots do not fall. Team looked a little heavy legged tonight I thought at both ends of the floor.
  18. Thanks CoachJ, great information. Always nice to see how people do their thing. You are right that the voting certainly lends itself to "regional bias" unless you are a coach that continues to go and watch games after your team has been eliminated for the season. That makes 2 coaches from Jefferson County that have shared their ballots and it certainly explained a lot in how they made their selections. Again really do appreciate your openness in explaining things from a coach's perspective.
  19. Already visible if you drive by. The arches leading to the football stadium have also been put in place. Going to be a pretty nice facility when all is said and done.
  20. You mention self-grading, is that of your team? Does every school do that? Obviously "every" coach does things differently to prepare their team in any given week or year. Care to share your ballot?
  21. It was kind of "tongue in cheek" to be honest. This type of stuff has been going on for many many many years.
  22. What?????? I thought that you could not transfer for athletic reasons. Based on this statement, sure appears to be the case now doesn't it?
  23. Unfortunately this is typical where the program currently stands, but will likely change some over the next few years. Currently a large majority of the team plays football and in most cases are not showing up for "full fledged" basketball practices until the first week of December at the earliest. Kevin felt it was best for the kids to practice for a few weeks before playing any games so that they could get some cohesiveness and get the bodies in better shape for basketball. The gym issue has nothing to do with anything except having to practice and play off the campus. Believe the gym will be ready when school starts back up next week. Understand floor is done and they now have to wait and let everything dry before getting on it. Cannot tell you the last time that the basketball program played a "full schedule" Just the nature of the beast right now. Believe the program will swing a little in coming years as there are more kids that have basketball as their first sport which will enable the football kids to work their way in as the season goes along. Kevin and staff have done a great job getting involved with the kids at all levels and you can see that things are starting to change a bit, just takes patience and time. Current team has numerous kids that played AAU basketball up until entering their sophomore year of high school. Believe that if these same kids were not football players first and Kevin Listerman was the coach, the recent 1,000 point scorer on the hill would be wearing the blue and white rather than the blue and gold.
