Coach Rod Snapp and Newport High School will be hosting the first annual John Turner Classic at Newport HS on Saturday December 10th. Game times are: 12p.m. Campbell County vs. Georgetown OH 2 p.m. Newport vs. New Richmond OH 4 p.m. Holy Cross vs. Maderia OH 6 p.m. Fern Creek vs. Winton Woods OH 8 p.m. Bryan Station vs. Princeton OH

Has to be the HS coach and parents joint decision. Every kid goes thru puberty a different way and at different times. Some kids are as big as they will be when the graduate in the 8th grade. Why not move them up and let them play. I wished the middle schools done the same. If you have a taleted 6th grader, let him play up if he can. So if he is ready to moved up to HS as a 8th grader, he is better prepared.

I guess I don't understand why they wouldn't be. Is it a "Grade" thing? If your grades are in check what is the problem. People move all the time due to issues beyond there control. Same thing with these other kids that have transfered from NY or where ever. If your 17 a senior in HS with the grades to play, what is the problem. I wish them all the best.

I don't know. I know the Ohio Prep is loaded with high school age talent. The playes are listed on the website. Maybe it's different in KY, but you would think the Basketball Academy would know that too.

What local players are going to either the JR Elite Showcase in Lville or the Buckeye Prep Showcase in Columbus the weekend of September 24-25? The Buckeye Prep shows over 250 kids signed up. Both will have kids from 6th grade to 12th grade. Should be a good weekend of basketball at both location.

Congrats to Jeff. Bad loss for SK but one I'm sure they where planning on. Coach Steiner knew who wouldnt be around for ever. Be interesting to see who SK hires, if anybody to replace him. Good luck to Coach Davis.

What local teams are going to AAU Nationals this year? Looks like in 7th grade KY Elite and Hoop Dreams (I believe they are coached by Todd Downs) are in bracket play already. Looks like both teams advanced to the championship bracket. Very interesting that the Elite Cavaliers (Cincy) could play Cincy Lakers in 2nd round of the Championship bracket. Good luck to all teams.

I would say team fees just cover the refs and that there is a cost to get in. There will also be a consession area with Mr. Racke on the grill

I like KYA and BA Hoyas in the U17 finals. Does anybody have a roster for KYA? In U15 I like Lville Magic. D'Angelo Russel was impressive in KY e.ite game.

They are playing up in U17.

With the younger classes be loaded with talent and size. I would say their will be a lot of interest.

KY blew a 24-2 lead in this game. Knipp came out on fire and they stoped going to him. Ky team was more athletic than Ohio, first time in a long time. Should have won this game going away.

This weekend there is two great AAU tournaments going on in our area. Cincy Knights tourny has over 70 boys teams, including several nationaly ranked teams. Indy Hoosiers, Detroit Showtime, Cincy Knights, Elite Cav, D1 Greyhounds. They are using Midwest, Boone HS, Holmes HS and NKU Rec Center for courts. We also have Bearcat Classic at UC with over 140 teams. This tourny gets a little watered down with the numbers. But is still a very good quality tourny. Should be a fun weekend of AAU hoops.

Hickey is the fastest player to play on Rupp since John Wall. Does he play football?

Cody may have shot lights out, but he sure acted like he didn't want to be there. To many stupid mental mistakes by a player with his experience. JR gave SK a huge boost off the bench, close to a double double. The last second 30 foot back shot at the end of the first, prove to be the difference in the score. The last and 1 was bogus also.

There is not 9 better players in NKY than Cody Chambers. SK gets no love because they are in the 8th.
