Bobby Hurley...yeah, I should stay away from this thread.
Two names I am curious about the thoughts- any chance Larry Davis would consider or is that like mentioning Hurley?
An out of the box suggestion- Bunky Harkleroad? Sacramento St. Women's head coach has won everywhere he has been and is a Berea College alumnus with ties to Kentucky- is that too crazy?
Not to pile on, but his freshman year was 2004. If you only get a player in Kentucky that can make an impact once every decade, then you really shouldn't build a program around that.
I slowed it down on my computer frame by frame. This is the frame that shows the ball past the rim when the SMU player touches it and tips the ball back toward the rim. Is it close, yes. I will say that live, I thought it was an air ball and looking at replays I still think it was going to be an air ball. The ref bails out UCLA, IMO.
No, you are wrong. The ball was already past the rim when SMU touches it. The ball only hit the rim because the SMU player tips it.
I saw it live. I saw it 100 times on replay. We just disagree.
Kid hustled- not your fault, son.
The ref that makes that call can't work another tourney game. I'm sorry- that was an awful call! SMU defended and forced Alford into a terrible and ill-advised shot attempt at the end of the game. SMU kid went up to rebound an air ball. The ball only touches the rim after SMU mishandles the rebound attempt.
Let the kids decide the game!
The First Four is in Dayton. It always has been. You would either have to relocate the tournament (not an option financially or realistically) or impact their participation in the tourney by giving the Flyers a seed the committee feels it didn't deserve (or leave them out altogether even though the committee felt they were deserving).
It isn't perfect, but what is the alternative?
I imagine they could save a chunk by not going to the Bahamas and by paying their coach less.
The suites would help draw revenue, as well. I bet Kentucky has the hughest expenses of any college basketball program, though.
