Probably true this year. After Mr Miller graduates though, I wouldn't be so sure. This tournament needs to be rotated. Home court advantage every single year is simply unfair.

Sorry, but I must disagree. Success depends upon the following: 1. the number of kids from which to choose 2. socioeconomic status of families of said kids 3. coaching - quality and depth 4. quality youth sports programs/instruction 5. supportive parents Discounting the size of the school is counterintuitive and simply doesn't agree with past results, as highlighted above. Everyone dreams of the Cinderella story. Even some pretty good movies are produced about it. However, it is RARE (thus the interest), so why penalize kids every year by placing them in an environment in which they cannot succeed (their apparently weak work ethic notwithstanding:rolleyes:) while waiting for the once in a generation success story????

I like it! Once again, how can 280 schools vie for one basketball championship, yet football teams have roughly a 1 in 40 chance??? Just because: a) that's the way we have always done it, or b) that's the way the fans like it, doesn't hold water. What about what's best to insure most, if not all, schools have a reasonable chance to compete for a championship? Sadly, though, I agree the odds of something like this happening are slim. Remember, follow the money.

Good point. The draw for SP and Deming was as bad as possible, while BB got the absolutely best draw possible. But so it goes a random draw. I also agree with the comment about the upside for Brossart. They will only get stronger in the next couple of years.

I agree. Particularly that BB played their game of the year. I believe LCA will roll over them in Richmond.

Perhaps, but after watching both teams several times this year, there is little doubt that St Pat is better. Last night was BB's best game and I do not think they could match that effort and certainly shoot the ball that well every time out. (if so, their record would be much better) With some luck, hopefully they can meet again in the regional tournament and St Pat can pick up win number 3 against the Bishop this year.

Coach Simms is a good coach and a quality person. I realize things are painful now, but I hope the folks in PC are patient with him. Given time, he will get them where they want to be.

I say congratulations to a very fine team that is fun to watch. I hope they make a very deep run in March. As to the folks from schools accustomed to beating Elliott who are now on the receiving end, just relax. The criticism isn't really about "running up the score". It is about being beaten by someone who "isn't supposed to beat us". The natural order will probably be restored when these kids graduate. It always amuses me when these larger schools who have a history of success get their feathers ruffled when the smaller schools have a once in a generation team and beat them a few times. They seem to think this signifies the end of the world or something. Just take a deep breath and try to enjoy someone else's success.

I am sorry, but this is extremely low class. Remember, this was directed at a specific 18 year old young man who made a mistake (granted, a major one). How many of the kids in the student section had never in their lives done anything they regretted?? And I don't buy the "kids will be kids" argument. Kids grow up into adults. Where were the PARENTS?????? Regarding between the lines, I wouldn't read too much into one game. I still believe that Mason County will be playing on Saturday night in Rupp.

I think the implication was that Deming had some sort of advantage because they were playing Jrs and Srs. My point was that Fleming has a bigger advantage in that they have about 6 times the number of students from which to field a team. Fleming won. They happened to be better than Deming on this particular night. Don't try to make it into something more since most of their players happen to be a year or two younger.

Deming has about 60 boys from which to field a team. What about Fleming??

He will be the best player Mason Co has after Middleton graduates. He has size, plays under control, and is fundamentally sound. He is going to be a good one!

I think trying to predict who BCG plays is about like trying to predict which numbers will be pulled in the lottery. That being said I am glad Darius is going to UK and wish him all the best. Hopefully things will turn around soon in Lexington.

This group of freshman seems to be very highly thought of, particularly the three main players. Perhaps this has been answered previously, but why aren't these three getting some varsity minutes???
