Thoughts on how will Miller stack up at Ky next year

Featured Replies

I was just wondering how others see Miller from Mason Co in the role he will play at Ky next year. Do you think he will see a lot of playing time and if so in what position.

His PT will depend on several things. How he adjusts to a new system, stays healthy, and the big one is how he developers his defense. Coach G has shown this year if you don't play D...you will sit the pine, don't matter who or how good you are.

As long as they keep losing to Gardner-Webb and San Diego, I'd say bring on the young guys!! If they don't improve significantly as the year goes on, I'd say any newcomers would get serious looks!!

He has to get rid of that lazy streak he has or he'll be another Crawford.

I went to the game yesterday when they played FIU and was close to the floor under the basket. FIU couldn't shoot but were a very physical team and as I watched the game I was thinking how big, how strong, how physical those guys are. You have to know how to use picks and even with that ,it's hard to get a decent shots. I read all the time on this site about boys in our area (10th and 16th region and the Lex area teams) playing D1 ball but I haven't seen any this year in our area except for Miller who can play on that level. Man ,you really got to have it all to play on that level, size, skills, strength, quickness and hustle. Thats the reason I posted this, to find out what others think.

Most people have not seen a high-major D1 game up and close. Watching the game from 20-feet away gives you a whole new perspective on what a D1 prospect really is. Nice post.

Try watching it from 1 foot away with the chance one of those guys is going to run over you at any moment...

Coach G and his defense? Are you kidding me???? If he didn't play someone for not playing defense, he wouldn't play anyone because none of them do. I think he has Crawford and others so confused they dont know what to do. Why does he not start Crawford but then brings him in down 12 points and leaves him in hoping he will bring them back?? Doesnt make sense to me. I think Miller will help them out next year to be honest! Or at least I hope he does!

I'm behind Miller 100% and what I'm saying it's a tough game at that level. I don't know if you call it defense or not but I know there is a lot of knocking, holding, pushing and roughness from people that range from 6ft5 to 7ft that weigh from 200 to 275 lbs and makes it a different game . I hope Miller does well and I'll watch him every game.:dancingpa

He has all three things going for him:

1. Plays hard

2. Plays defense

3. Unselfish

I don't see that changing at the next level and as long as he can avoid any kind of injury bug, it really could be a very special few years at UK for him.

Miller will do fine. He has strength and will be a slasher and not a full-time post player. Miller should actually create mismatch problems with his size out on the wings.

If you are speaking of high major(you just said D1 no specification) you are absolutely correct. There is however lots of mid major D1 schools and there is several in the Lex, 10th, 16th who can play at the mid-major level. It's still D1 whether major or mid major, and still an honor at either level!!!!!!!

All the best to Darius Miller:thumb:

I agree, there are different levels of D1 schools. Still have to be big and quick to play at Morehead ,Eastern, Western and those size schools. Who do you think out of the 10, 16 region could play for these schools.

There are lots of 6' to 6-3 point and shooting guards at the mid-major D1 level. Who "I"

think can doesn't matter. We will all know the correct answer in about 1 1/2 more seasons

You will see though, there will be several players from the 10, 16, Lex area who will play at some level of D1

From what i have seen of him, his work ethic on the floor must improve if he wants to be a contributor to UK next season.
