  1. I would think Rowan, Elliott, and maybe Morgan would be better. People are talking up Fairview but I have no idea about them.
  2. Didn't Anderson coach a State Championship team in WV?
  3. The best football player Fairview has ever had lived in a house owned by guess who? Mr. Musick
  4. Ashland used to have over 1000 students and now has about 800, so yes
  5. Let's not excuse the Fairview School board. The red flags were there and they have continued to allow Musik to run the school system. You can lay some blame at the feet of Marvin Moore of Rowan County. He was a member of the board of controls of the KHSAA and was informed of certain illegal activities at Fairview. His response was to forward the email to Musik. This was an obvious attempt to help Dollar Bill cover his tracks. This exchange took place in September of 2011
  6. Buddy has to feel like Ashland did him a favor. I bet the "athletes" will come out at Mason. His system is made for the kids at Mason Co, he will win and win big.
  7. I think he will win big at Mason.
  8. Want to bet that there will still be plenty of kids who won't play and it two years they will be blaming the coach?
  9. If hired he would have coached more regional champions than any active 16th region coach.
  10. Ethan would be a great hire, imo
  11. I understand the firing but to say he was too demanding is a crock. He's been the same way for 9 years. If that's the reason why did it take so long? Just say he lost 20 some games and it's time to go in a new direction. To me the problem is Biggs could have lost the confidence of those involved and thats understandable. I will say this, I thought Ashland improved quite a bit between Christmas and the district tournament.
  12. This was a weaker year than in the past. Elliot with the Faulkners, Rowan with Wing and Townsend, Fleming with Burns and Steward, and even Russell with Skaggs was better than even team in the region this year. If Miller and Thornton were on the team Ashland has a legit shot this year. Ashland hasn't had the best talent during Bigg's tenure. This simply isn't true. Some of Biggs best players at Ashland have played other sports. Examples: Drew McDavid, Matt Thomas, Corey Gregg, Cody Withrow, Ryan Whetsel, Kyle Bush, Will Skaggs, Ryan Bonner, Logan Salow, Dylan Delaney just to name several. But that doesn't fit the narrative.
  13. Not a chance on Baker. Adam Howard Evan Faulkner How about Thacker at Rowan?
  14. Losing your best player to an injury and your 2nd best player to a transfer (out of the area) isn't an excuse it's a reality. Please tell me in which year during Buddy Bigg's tenure did he have the best team in the region? I understand the need for a change, this season was ugly and it's hard to survive that. But to say the program as progressively slide is inaccurate. The key word is progressively, this was the first season in the Bigg's era that Ashland didn't reach the regional semis. That is not a progressive decline.
  15. Progressively downhill? Ashland has been in the regional finals 3 of the past 4 years prior to this season. That's pretty consistent. I would hire Evan Faulkner tomorrow.
  16. I've got no issue with making kids cut their hair nor would I have an issue if they didn't. Hair policies are not the issue
  17. And I don't disagree with what you are saying. My point is there was no saving this season when Thornton moved to Cleveland, it was going to be a bad season. When Miller broke his foot the entire situation unraveled. I think Biggs has to be held responsible but his body of work grants him another chance. Jmo And I don't necessarily think the kids gave up on him they just gave up. Is that on the coach? Probably so but there are extenuating circumstances.
  18. Allow me to add to the previous post. Ashland isn't getting beat by 2 or 4 points they are getting crushed most evenings. To my knowledge Lebron James isn't walking the hallways. It would take much more than a couple of athletic kids to make this a competitive team. Granted, 1 win through January is tough to swallow but would people feel different if they had say 6 wins?
  19. First of all this was going to be a down year at Ashland regardless but when you loss your best player to injury it only makes things worse. Add the relocation of your second best player to Cleveland and you get 1-whatever. I'm sorry tired of hearing about the talent walking the hallways. Are there kids that could help? Certainly but the current senior class struggled in middle school as did the current sophomore and freshman classes. The junior class is was the most talented and their best player moved. I understand that this type of season invites criticism but you cannot lay this entirely at Buddy Bigg's feet. I don't feel he should be fired but I do think if he found another job a clean start my be in his best interest because too many people still believe Ashland is the big dog and it simply isn't true.
  20. That regular season game was a 10 point game with less than a minute left. A couple of 3 pointers a some missed ft made it close. I think Tackett deserves more credit for beating Rowan than he does criticism for losing to Ashland. Greenup had a losing record heading into the post season. And I believe Ashland's lead in the region was 9 at the half and quickly swelled to 20 plus in the third. Greenup struggles against pressure
