I'm just going to say that this is an underwhelming hire, but I will support the Tomcats, I wish Howell the very best.

I've known Jeremy since he was in high school. I wish him all the success possible. I saw, on one of the educational channels the other day, him dropping a couple of 3's against OJ Mayo and company during the Regional Finals in Morehead. Good luck Coach Howell.

Does he have any head coaching experience? I don't think he does but I'm not 100% sure and the ADI didn't indicate it if he does.

Squeeze bunt.

I know a lot of people will have a problem with this hire, but I actually like it. Its definetly a gamble, but Jeremy knows his basketball and will have no problems getting kids to come out and play, which was the biggest problem with Biggs.

 

He's a former Tomcat and has lived in the area all of his life, except a short stint in Florida I believe. Ashland needed someone who could work the entire school system from grade school up, I'm confident Jeremy will continue to do that. Him and Adam Howard were two of my favorites for the job honestly. Its a bit of a gamble to not hire someone with high school level head coaching experience, but everyone has to start somewhere. If you read the site, congrats jho.

Time will tell if he has a positive impact on the Blazer basketball scene. Not real fair to him to criticize before he ever conducts a practice. It is ironic that Russell hired a head coach with no high school experience head coaching experience and most looked at it as a good hire. I would think at this point Mr. Howell is on the same rung as Mr. Strader. I say good luck Mr. Howell, work hard and you will have the chance to cook the crow.

The 7th grade class is pretty good. Not alot of size, but kids can play.
