BTW, The Refs knew Brady was using the goggles to look for the Boone student section.

 Don't think Brady's were strong enough to reach Florence though.

You have no clue you must have not seen Ncc play that much. You try to trap Hightchew and he was one of the only guards who was strong enough to split a trap. To say he was not strong with the ball in a JOKE.

Strongly agree

Chewy, I have watched Brady for 3 years now. He is very strong from the baseline going to the rim and when he gets the ball at the top of the key and goes to the rim.

That does not mean he can be a PG. I've watched him struggle against pressure when he tries to get an offense going. He is not a strong ball handler. Solid. Not strong and not strong enough against pressure.

IMO Beuter is the right kid for the PG spot. He can get the offense going and get the ball to Brady in a spot where he can be effective. A PG also needs to intangible of being calm. Brady is always wound up which is why he gets himself into foul trouble. You don't want a tightly wound PG. He has been effective at the 2. I trust Grant knows where he fits best.

Take a step back. Your support for Brady is obviously strong and he's obviously close to you. He's in the 1000 point club so I'm not saying the kid can't play.

While it's not much consolation to the senior Breds I do have NC as my #1 team for next season.

I agree...NCC will be loaded with Beuter/Siebert/McDonald/Schulte back.

First let me say Congratulations to Boone and Coach McQueary. For a few years now I have said I think McQueary is one of the better coaches in this area. For the past 5yrs we on BGP have heard some negativity towards this program and this coach from its own parents and fans. I think today he proved he knows what the heck he's doing. This was probably his least talented squad in the past 3 or 4 years.....and look at them now. Headed to Rupp. Congrats to the Rebels!

As for NCC. They have a very nice young squad. McDonald is going to be very good if he works on his footwork and his face up post moves. Shulte is a heck of young prospect and I really love watching Beuter play.

Finally for Brady Hitchew. I see a lot of good basketball players come through this area. He's as good as any I've seen come through this area. His athleticism and skill is really fun to watch. He plays really hard and although I don't care for some of the antics he shows while playing....he usually backs them up with his game. But I have to say this. I think Brady is worn out. He's played 4yrs of Football, Basketball, and now headed to back to Baseball. Over the past basketball season I've noticed he has had a few games where he just looks worn out. I think he wants to go 110%, 110% of the time but he's just tired and possibly starting to burn out. And I can't blame him one bit. But I do say this...he should hold his head up high....because he was one heck of a high school athlete and had one heck of a career at NCC. Congratulations Brady and good luck down the road!

True for him. True for almost every big kid in high school. Louis M surprised me a bit yesterday with his footwork and face-up game.

taking it a little personal?

Add to that Pangallo and Franzen:ylsuper:

As stated in Game thread, senior laden squad, making free throws, and great guard play is a formula that can cover any deficiencies a team can have. Good luck to the Rebels at Rupp. They have a real shot to get to the semis, then who knows.

Congrats to Boone!!! But I wouldn't go that far with the part listed above in BOLD

Not saying they will, but have winnable games.

Just remember when you post about someone they are still kids. I don't agree with somethings kids do in the heat of battle but to point out a kid who plays hard and has heart rubs me the wrong way. Its hard for me to read someone point out a kid who has had a Brilliant career and he just PLAYS THE GAME. That's what it is a GAME.

Where did i ever say anything negative about Brady??? I simply pointed out that the kid did something late in the game that wasnt needed and probably deserved a T....and likely would've been a T with 9th region officiating.

During our two Newcath broadcasts, i was nothing but complimentary toward Brady and the Breds. I personally congratulated him today walking in to the building before the game for reaching the 1,000 point club and wished him luck. I also told others yesterday how impressed I was with him in the cooper game and the way the kid handled a few unnecessary hard fouls that most kids would've blown up after.

I've never once said anything negative about Brady or the way he plays the game. He is one hell of an athlete and I love how hard he plays. Just because I don't agree with a gesture doesn't mean I am being negative toward him. Relax.

Boone County has the things that many say win games - excellent guards, seniors, very good free throw shooting and great defense. All were on display throughout the tournament. Boone played with great execution and poise. They came out strong and took control of games and then maintained that control. When the runs came from each opponent they faced, Boone never got rattled and always responded. I would like to see the stats for Boone County free throw shooting in the fourth quarter of the 3 games combined. I will be very surprised if it is under 90%. If I had to guess, I would put the numbers around 30-33. Incredible. And to top it all off, McQueary was masterful. In each game he called time outs at the right time and his team executed something out of every time out.

Key performances for Boone County - McQueary making shots from every spot on the floor in every manner you can think of; Palmer's inside play, rebounding and defense against bigger opponents; Pitts using his quickness to make plays; and perhaps the key to the whole team Cooper Downs at the point controlling it all, penetrating and creating layup baskets, hitting the big shot when they need it and great defense throughout the tournament. Downs guarded the key player on the opponent in every game and when a player got hot, Coach McQueary would move Downs over to guard him and suddenly that opponent stopped scoring. I haven't seen anyone shut down Hightchew like Downs did today. I believe Brady had 4 points before hitting that 3 late in the game and he was clearly frustrated by Downs' defense. Cooper Downs is the blueprint for what you want out of a point guard.

Does anyone have a list of who made All Tourney?

From nky.com:

All-tournament team: MVP – Zane McQueary. Cooper Downs, Keenan Palmer (Boone County), Brady Hightchew, Jake Schulte (NewCath), Louis Maniacci, A.J. Collins (Cooper), Tyler Bray, Niko Carter (Lloyd), Brandon Hatton (Dixie Heights), Dontel Rice (Holmes), Nick Ruthsatz (Covington Catholic), Patrick Towles (Highlands).

Very happy for my alma mater! Congrats Rebels!

Anyone know the last time the men and women's regional championship was won by the same school in the 9th? Discussed it by a buddy last night and we went with maybe Highlands in 2001? Is that right?
