Brady should have been at the 1 all year. Not strong with the ball? I don't agree with this at all. He was the best point guard on the team. He has tremendous leadership, a knack for getting to the rim, keeping his teammates involved and ran the team extremely well from the point.

I thought the two biggest plays of the game were.... one was mentioned earlier in this thread, when NCC had a chance for a break away layup and Ryan collided Hightchew which knocked the ball lose when they were the only two players on that half of the court for the steal and layup.

The other big play, which I am surprised hasn't been brought up as of yet was the defense that Miller played on McQuery. Miller held him to 5 points in the first half and then in the 4th quarter, NCC took Miller out and McQuery scored 7 straight points for Rebels on threee consecutive trips down the court before NCC put Miller back in to play defense against him. I don't know why Brannen feels he has to take Miller out at the same points of the game each game, however, I really thought it cost the Breds not having Miller blanket McQuery the entire game. While Miller was out, McQuery scored on a put back, a three and hit two free throws that put the Rebels up for good during the 4th quarter.

As for McDonald, the young man played like he did the first 3 weeks of the season yesterday. It seems as though NCC forgot about him during the middle part of the season (outside of the injury). Again, it seemed as though we had to wait until 3:30 left in the quarter before he came in. I struggle with the substitution pattern with NCC. I wouldn't have taken McDonald out yesterday at all unless he raised his hand stating he was tired.

When was the last time Boone went to Rupp or won the 9th region? I wanna say early-mid 90's?

2001

That's what we thought, but couldn't remember if Tara Boothe lead the Highlands Women's team to the title now not. Thanks. Clyde.

I want to guess 96.

Someone said 1996.

Anyone have stats for the game?

While it's not much consolation to the senior Breds I do have NC as my #1 team for next season.

They'll be tough. Losing Brady hurts from the perspective of he seems like the only player they had that could score outside of the offense. He could break his man down every time. They will be a very balanced team next year, even if that doesn't show up in the PPG column. McDonald and Schulte both pass well out of the high and low post. They will be pretty long in the front court. I am interesting in seeing how Mr. Pangallo plays. Obviously everyone knows his Dad and the family name, but his mom was a very good ball player as well at NewCath.

First let me say Congratulations to Boone and Coach McQueary. For a few years now I have said I think McQueary is one of the better coaches in this area. For the past 5yrs we on BGP have heard some negativity towards this program and this coach from its own parents and fans. I think today he proved he knows what the heck he's doing. This was probably his least talented squad in the past 3 or 4 years.....and look at them now. Headed to Rupp. Congrats to the Rebels!

As for NCC. They have a very nice young squad. McDonald is going to be very good if he works on his footwork and his face up post moves. Shulte is a heck of young prospect and I really love watching Beuter play.

Finally for Brady Hitchew. I see a lot of good basketball players come through this area. He's as good as any I've seen come through this area. His athleticism and skill is really fun to watch. He plays really hard and although I don't care for some of the antics he shows while playing....he usually backs them up with his game. But I have to say this. I think Brady is worn out. He's played 4yrs of Football, Basketball, and now headed to back to Baseball. Over the past basketball season I've noticed he has had a few games where he just looks worn out. I think he wants to go 110%, 110% of the time but he's just tired and possibly starting to burn out. And I can't blame him one bit. But I do say this...he should hold his head up high....because he was one heck of a high school athlete and had one heck of a career at NCC. Congratulations Brady and good luck down the road!

This team is very talented between the ears. They are a very, very smart basketball team. Ice water in the veins type of group.

As long as he has mom's skills he will be just fine!!!!! In all seriousness both Chris and Jen (his parent's) were outstanding high school players. Does Zach not also play football?

The offense stagnates when he is at the one.

McDonald played big today for NewCath. 14pts as a Frosh in the regional finals is pretty big.

He also probably had that many rebounds also, and a couple of assists.

He had to have a double-double too. Drew is going to give NKY fits for three more years. He WILL be dominate as long as he stays motivated.

Motivation WILL NOT be a problem. His mother and father will see to that.

Two of Boone players did the same thing before him.
