Can someone tell me why Hightchew doesn't play the point and Beuter the 2 guard?

I agree with Grant on this one. Hightchew is not a PG. Not strong with the ball.

The offense stagnates when he is at the one.

McDonald played big today for NewCath. 14pts as a Frosh in the regional finals is pretty big.

You have no clue you must have not seen Ncc play that much. You try to trap Hightchew and he was one of the only guards who was strong enough to split a trap. To say he was not strong with the ball in a JOKE.

Boone won for the following reasons:

1. Better guards. Stanley, Pitts, and Downs played an excellent game and were able to limit their turnovers even when Newcath put a lot of pressure on them. Pitts was putting on a dribbling clinic late in the game with Ryan trying to defend him and force him in to a trap. They also put on a shooting clinic from the charity stripe. Very balanced group.

2. Defense and Rebounding. Rebels did a nice job defending the entry pass to the bigger NCC front court and forced Newcath to settle for a lot of jumpers. Breds fans wanted fouls called but when one team is attacking and the other is settling for jumpers, you are going to see a foul disparity. Coach McQueary told me before the game his team must rebound well to win. They did just that with Palmer and Carr playing extremely well despite being undersized in the post. Those kids play extremely hard and are very underrated when talking about Boone's success.

3. Coaching. Coach McQueary realized in the second half that Newcath wasn't going to shoot them out of the gym so he went to a zone and forced NCC in to some long possessions and bad shots. It hurt them a little down low with McDonald getting some easy rebounds and put backs, but overall it was a smart plan. He also continually told his team to be patient against NCC's zone and this led to several three's which forced NCC to try to again defend Boone m2m.

All in all a solid performance by both teams but Boone was the better team and deserved to win. I will say this... both teams have great kids but the region championship couldn't have gone to a better group of kids and coaching staff. All around class by that Boone program.

BTW, someone please tell Brady Hightchew that you don't throw up a three goggle when your team is losing and you hit your first three of the game. A 9th region official would've gave him a T for taunting had he pulled that in a different setting. Absolutely no need for that and it rubbed a lot of people the wrong way...

I agree, Hightchew was very strong with the ball. Was he best at the PG spot, I dont know. Beuter is probably a better spot up shooter but Hightchew attacked the baseline well and also got to the paint.

He had to have a double-double too. Drew is going to give NKY fits for three more years. He WILL be dominate as long as he stays motivated.

BTW, The Refs knew Brady was using the goggles to look for the Boone student section.

He was really good today. How about the flat-footed behind-the-Boone player left-handed tip in?

While it's not much consolation to the senior Breds I do have NC as my #1 team for next season.

Just remember when you post about someone they are still kids. I don't agree with somethings kids do in the heat of battle but to point out a kid who plays hard and has heart rubs me the wrong way. Its hard for me to read someone point out a kid who has had a Brilliant career and he just PLAYS THE GAME. That's what it is a GAME.

Overall, I agree, Chewy. However, pointing out that an action was worthy of a T doesn't cross the line IMO. A great kid who serves the elderly can sometimes do something worthy of a T in the heat of battle. I do, though, appreciate your overall point.

GREAT job as usual paNDA!!
