Kids at ballgames

Featured Replies

This could be a subject some may object to but here it goes. I don't know why parents allow their kids to run back and forth during a game, I'm trying to watch a game and kids run in and out and at times almost become part of the action, the time for bathroom, concessions talking with friends is in between periods, Halftime, and after the game. This more of a safety issue more than a rant. It's also rude we go to watch a game and there's somebodies kids running into people, knocking things out of peoples hands, etc.,,, but really......WHY??

I agree. I have found that if after the 2nd time, you tell the kid it is gonna cost him a dollar the next time he crosses in front of you he will take the hint and stop or at least take a different route.

I don't know how many times the same kids run out in front of me because they have to go potty, the whole game come on now. Been hit in the head by a shaker lately to.

I don't mind kids being kids, but i agree completely Devilman! I informed my youngest the other day that if she didn't sit down and watch the game, we were leaving! She got the message!!

Sounds like grumpy old men to me. The kids do not bother me. It's the adults that are doing the same thing, and come and stand in the isles or at their seats to chat with their friends while the game is being played. The band parents, dance team parents, cheerleader parents. Many are not there to watch the game, they are there to support their children and grand children, as they should. Just because they are not there to watch the game does not mean that everyone else isn't interested. Kids are just being kids. Adults, they are just being rude and inconsiderate. If you stood up in front of them while the dance team or cheerleaders were on the floor they would be irate. Now with all that being said, it's part of what happens at ballgames. It has been the same way for as long as I can remember. It's something that happens on a regular basis. I don't expect it to ever change. I know it's going to happen. It's still worth the $5.00 for three hours of entertainment any given night. JMO

Some parents have to bring their younger kids in order to see their older child play (versus a baby sitter). It should be the parents responsibility to keep an eye on them. I don't mind them being there. Sort of fun to get them all jacked up and send them home with mommy and daddy!

I don't mind kids being kids either. However, when they are 5 and 6 and chasing each other up and down the stairs without any parental control, when one of them takes a monumental spill and the school gets dragged into a lawsuit, then we'll see this policed a bit more. Unruly kids come with the territory, but running around in a designated aisle doesn't bother me when the parents are in close proximity. Heck, I've been know to trip one on purpose, as mature as that may seem:lol:.

^ I don't resort to tripping; just the occasional light body check.

This is what happens when kids run around at a basketball game...

Sorry I had to post it. I still laugh every time I see it.

 Funniest thing I've read today and exactly how I handle most situations, as well.

That's pretty funny.

Everyone has valid points. In every occasion it is an adult who should be responsible.

You gotta prepare before you go. I have been dragging my 5 yr old daughter to games for 5 yrs and we pack dolls, toys to play with in stands, coloring books, etc. She normally does very well and never runs around. Sometimes she can get bored and start demanding we leave with 3 minutes left in a very tight game. Thats when this guy defers to mama and tells her to deal with it. LOL

However, AFIGuy has a valid excuse with the triplets. That would be a fulltime job and there would be no watching basketball.

I informed my youngest the other day that if she didn't sit down and watch the game, we were leaving!

If I said that to my kids, they would never sit down because they want to leave!!!
