I was at a local store tonight and saw a guy and for some reason I thought "I bet he's a BGPer." Never seen the kid before. Just fit a profile I had in my head.

 

I often look around and wonder "which of these guys are on BGP."

 

I'll actually start a convo with someone I suspect and mention something that was on BGP. I wait to hear if they bring up something that was in a thread about the subject. Or I'll overhear a conversation and say "BGPer."

I wear my BGP sweatshirts & keep an eye out for people who give me that look.

I've come across two guys who both seemed to fit the profile I have in my head. Both had been members in the past, but were not any longer. I couldn't get profile names out of either of them. It's definitely something I think about pretty frequently when I meet people nowadays...especially at sporting events (of course).

I've worn BGP shirts/caps several years to the state basketball tournament thinking I might meet someone who was a BGP'er, and never once has someone come up to me and said, "Hey, are you a BGP member too?" I meet gold sunrise everytime I'm there, but we already know each other anyway.

There's a convenience store in my neighboorhood that I frequent several days a week. Being a person who's out and about early, I often run into the Lays rep there. Over time, conversations occurred and he found out my son went to Trinity and played football there. One day, as I was entering the store, he says, "There's Rockmom". I still don't know if he is a BGP-er, or if he just called me that because of the Rock Moms. I've never gotten the courage up to ask. :lol:

The only hs sporting events I go to are wrestling and the BGP wrestling community has greatly decreased, so I don't really run into anyone at those. Most of my meeting BGPers is done over beer and good music...

I often wear a BGP cap when I'm out and about; especially when I'm out of town. Every once in a while I'll get a nibble.

 

As far as developing a BGP profile; I'd go with suave, devilishly handsome, witty, charming, and of course, humble. Wait a minute - that's me!

I run into all kinds of people that have some type of connection to BGP. Mostly I run into readers only that never post.

I always wear my BGP gear when I go to HS sporting events out of my area and have met a few members.

I finally won a contest a few weeks ago so I'll be able to wear my hoodie in public. It is always a topic of conversation when talking sports among the locals. Guru's Uncle Lou got me hooked a few years ago when he said he read about my child on BGP. I quickly learned what he was talking about. If I go somewhere that I know a BGP'er will be there, I'll often PM to see if we can say hello to each other. I love when the newbies hop on here and immeadiately talk about a specific situation or kid. You can tell it is near or dear to their heart.

Very rarely in the 5th Region do I get that, since most of those folks seem to have gravitated toward that awful wild west board.

Well it sounds like I need to start doing some of the contests because my BGP gear is lacking. Just curious, about how many members does this site have?
