January 8, 201214 yr Had nothing to do with his arm strength, give it a rest. Ok then. Why has he been bad to terrible for 6 weeks in a row?
January 8, 201214 yr I'm sure glad he is not an evaluator of NFL QB's for the draft or their first seasons playing. Because Brees, and Manning would have been out of the league after their rookie seasons. Tom Brady would never have gotten a chance to play because he fell to the 6th round so that shows he has all kinds of flaws. Aaron Rodgers would have been done because his first year starting he took a team who was in the NFC Championship and turned them into a non playoff team his first year starting. So don't you see all the top QB's played perfect their first seasons playing, and all star QB's got taken in the 1st round, because if they slipped past the 1st that means something was wrong with them and they won't ever be good. Again I'm tired of you putting words in my mouth. Why did Dalton fall to the 2nd round and get chosen as like the 5th QB? Here's a hint. It's not because he has a cannon. The funny thing is I questioned it but you and some others think it's impossible that he doesn't have a strong enough arm. I'll ask you the same question. Why has he been terrible 6 weeks in a row?
January 8, 201214 yr Author Ok then. Why has he been bad to terrible for 6 weeks in a row? It's simple and its two simple facts that you continue to ignore. One of them is 7 out of his last 9 games played came against teams who have top 10 defenses. Which we have even talked about how those defenses were also in the top 10 in DPR which you say is more important. The second reason is that he is a rookie, a rookie is not going to look great or even really good going against that many top 10 defenses like he has had to over the last two months. It's a very simple thing, and yet you continue to ignore that reasoning. Yet even though he played 11 games against top 10 defenses this year, he still put up better numbers than most of the star QB's in the league in their rookie years. Rookies are not going to look great usually, especially QB's. They are going to make mistakes, then if you play more good defenses than not then your going to have your struggles.
January 8, 201214 yr Giants aren't looking all that bad today. Anyone who thinks Manning, Romo, Vick and Rivers won't be way tougher than Whitehurst, Painter, Skelton and Clemmons needs to re-evaluate. I don't understand why people are so mad for me questioning his arm strength and saying they got extremely lucky with their schedule. I would think Dalton will improve but he better or they'll get drilled by the good teams and good QB's. The entire point I was making was he doesn't have a big arm. I've said all along if he did have a bigger arm he wouldn't have fallen to them

Or possibly he isn't that good?
January 8, 201214 yr Author Again I'm tired of you putting words in my mouth. I have answered that question a few times now. Will you answer mine now? Why is it that Manning led the league in interceptions his rookie year? Why is it that Tom Brady was a 6th round draft pick? Why is it that Matt Ryan can't cut in in the playoffs, why is it that Aaron Rodgers fell in the draft and then took over a team who was a NFC Championship runner up and turned them into a non playoff team in his first year starting? I mean based on things that your saying, these guys probably should have looked great their first years starting. Tom Brady won a Super Bowl in his year starting, however based on your analysis of where people are taken in the draft. Tom Brady should have never seen an NFL field in his life, and should have always held a clipboard since so many teams passed on him. Your reasoning for Andy Dalton is terrible, and NFL scouts have even said that his arm is stronger than they thought it was. The reasoning he has struggled is not being of a weak arm, it is because of the defenses they have played and just simply being a rookie. Rookies simply don't put up great numbers and look great every week. It's really not that complicated.
January 8, 201214 yr Author Or possibly he isn't that good? Well considering the best QB's in the NFL right now didn't do well at all in their first years starting, and Andy Dalton did better than most of them. While doing it on a team thought would suck, and doing it againt top defenses. There is more reason to believe he will be a good QB.

I've said all along if he did have a bigger arm he wouldn't have fallen to them Which is absolutely a horrible reason to base your opinion on.What was the reason for why Brady fell to the 6th round, there must have been tons of reasons for why teams passed on him. Also You keep talking about the QB's but none of that matter for how Dalton looks, the defenses they play is what matters not the QB's. Those teams who have better QB's also have worst defenses, so Dalton would probably look better its a simple concept.
January 8, 201214 yr Author Giants aren't looking all that bad today. Not at all, they were my sleeper pick to make the Super Bowl. I said it a few weeks ago that I thought if the Giants could make it in, that they will be a tough team to beat. Should be a good game next week against Green Bay..However one thing about the Giants is that during the season you just never know which team will show up. So it is a game next year that the Bengals could win, because every year the Giants play puts Coughlin on the hot seat during the season it seems haha.

Rookies are not going to look great usually, especially QB's. They are going to make mistakes, then if you play more good defenses than not then your going to have your struggles. I think Dalton is a good quarterback, especially for a rookie. However, you keep mentioning that he has put up better numbers than a lot of the star quarterbacks in the league did as rookies. I do think that you are missing something in that comparison : Right now the league's rules are much more slanted to promote the passing game than ever before. This group of rookies should look great in comparison to their predecessors. Cam Newton is a great example of that. What kind of numbers do you think Manning would have put up under these rules? Also I think part of his struggles have come from teams getting a "book"on him as to which throws he can or cannot hurt them with or which ones he is hesitant to make. If it is a matter of experience or confidence then I agree that a full offseason will help greatly. If it is a matter of arm strength preventing him from making the throws it will be very apparent. I think he is a quarterback that the Bengals can win with even if he isn't quite an All-Pro.

I've said all along if he did have a bigger arm he wouldn't have fallen to them Sure he needs to improve. But don't you think a better answer for other good QBs is improving their defense? How about putting a better than mediocre O line in front of him? Maybe he can show some arm strength if he could step into throws, instead of throwing off his back foot, or on the run, due to guys constantly being in his face. How about putting some semblance of a running game in? Dalton is fine. You're assessment of this team's issues is incredibly askew.
January 8, 201214 yr Or possibly he isn't that good? Guess you would have canned Aikman after a 1-15 start?

January 8, 201214 yr Let me guess, you're realy hot they didn't go after Jake Locker. Probably would have gone undefeated with his cannon arm...
