They tried to get him out last year. Some people who give to the program wanted him out and made threats they wouldnt give anymore until he was gone. Thats what Im being told from someone very close to the situation.

Nice to know the Principal can be bribed with money donations.

That is thw way it is in a lot of schools! Parents complain and the administration automatically sides with the parent and shows little support to the coach! Coaches with strong administrations should be appreciative!

After next year...they will go into the tank like they were before Poynter got there. Superintendent and principal sound like they got their GED's out of a Cracker Jack box.

Bourbon County athletics seem to be headed in a dangerous place IMO. Between this, and the recent thread in the basketball forum regarding their head coach's past-game actions, there have been quite a few instances of questionable decision-making coming out of Paris.

The powers that be have really droped the ball in this one!!

Why would anyone take this head coaching job after what has occured in Bourbon County in the last ten years?

Just curious if anyone knows Pointers record at Bourbon and Trimble? How did he do in the playoffs?

Who was the old BGP poster who was a student at Bourbon that used to blast them on a regular basis?

Same story different coach. I feel like this type of thing has been happening at BoCo for a while now. Parents/donors don't like the coach and they run him out. Even if the coach is successful, if they don't like you then pack your bags because they usually get what they want which is sad because it is not what the kids want. People there are going to have to get over this if they want to have consistent success

This decision has shocked me. Being a Rockcastle County boy I felt like Coach Poynter had learned a lot from Coach Larkey and Coach Saylor here and was putting that same winning formula into place at Bourbon. He must have set the wrong kid out or forgot to pat someone on the back because Bourbon had one of the worst programs in the state before he got there. I don't understand why they hired him to start with if their goal wasn't to win football games!! A coach who goes there does so at his own risk!!

Im hearing some rumblings that the frontrunner for the BoCo job is an alumnus by the name Craig Foley. He is the current head coach at Frankfort. This is interesting because his father is the county judge in Bourbon Co. And Bourbon Co. is already known for its politics running the sports show.

Why would Foley leave the talent filled honeypot of Frankfort?? Seems like he's done well there.

I wouldn't bank on Foley leaving Frankfort. From my conversations with him he is very happy at Frankfort and is excited about the future. Coaching staff believes they are close to making a deep playoff run with what they have coming up.
