I saw a post in a basketball thread about reading Harry Potter books.

 

I wondered how many BGPers have read any or all of the books?

 

I consider myself a big reader but have never once thought about reading any of this series. Doesn't do anything for me.

I read the first one.. Didn't like it, and that was that.

 

Watched the movies with my wife, except the most recent one. I let her watch that one on her own. Couldn't stomach any more.

I re-read the series everytime a new movie or book came out. Absolutely love them. The first few books I've probably read at least 10 times.

 

I feel bad for all the old crotchety people posting above me.

I've read them all and seen all the movies. And I am not a big reader. I just enjoyed the stories in this series.

I have never read any, but I'm not opposed to it. Maybe one day, but I have a few other books on my shelf that I'm slowly getting through first. I have seen a few of the movies, I do plan on eventually owning all of these as part of my collection.

I read the first book, didn't care for it so I've passed on all the other books and movies since then.

I still hold to the old Han Solo perspective on that sort of thing, "Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side kid."

 

Never been a big fan of anything related to magic, I think that is why I like the Martin books so much. Any magic is wholly subdued.

Quick reads? Since they are 400+ page books, I don't know if I would call them quick reads. But they are relatively easy reads IMO and if you want to sit down and read one over a weekend, you should have no problem doing that.

I've read the first four books and watched all the movies. Goblet of Fire was probably my favorite book.

Read 'em all twice.

Read them all multiple times. Books are way better than the movies, however the movies are entertaining enough to stand by themselves as good entertainment without them being attached to the books.

I've enjoyed swords & sorcery-type books since childhood.
