I was under the impression every week was a playoff in college football. If that's the case, why wasn't Alabama eliminated?

 

The college football defenders say things like that all the time, but it's nonsense.

They were....OSU/Stanford/Oregon/Oklahoma/Arkansas lost too. If anyone of these teams do not lose Bama is in the Sugar Bowl, remember the thread where it was where Bama got lucky with these teams losing.

 

Using your logic why play on January 9th? Just go ahead and crown LSU, I'll go for that but people need to quit hating on Bama for doing all they could do since November 5th.

Question: If Bama had defeated LSU, and then lost to them in the BCS title game - how would you feel about LSU being crowned king instead of the Tide who had already proved their worth by beating the Tigers?

I don't think you can compare the two. Here's why: Villanova and Georgetown qualified to be in a 64 team tourney. The odds were long that they would meet again but they did.

 

In BCS Football - there is no playoff. It's who gets chosen to play in the title game. Just an observation of difference I see in the two westsider.

Because it's the post-season. No matter how you got to where you are, it's what you do from this point forward that counts.

It is opinion that put them in the title game, so if Bama say were to win a close game against LSU on a neutral site. How can we honestly say Bama is our National Champion? When say someone like Oklahoma State may have won, but we will never know that.

Fair question, In another thread I mentioned how Bama was made NC before we played Norte Dame and we lost, we should not have won any NC. "Haters' are people who are not understanding the process and are not being fair to our kids for doing everything they have done after their loss to LSU.

 

They cannot accept the BCS facts and formula to pick the best two final teams, and its frustrating. many folks have made it clear, but they are not reading.

 

Who ever wins on January 9th is the Champion. We lost to USC last year to knock us out of it, and I did OK. I've been around sports since 1960, and have lost a lot more than I won. To be a good sport and lose its fine if you know you tried your best and sometimes you have to give the other team credit.

Iowa State took away OSUs chance to play LSU, so who would you put in the game so the nation would get a evenly match game? I have some stats on OSU/Iowa State if you are interested.

True. I do expect it to be a de facto home game for LSU. I'll be shocked if it isn't largely a pro LSU crowd.

Why? I understand that in the NCAA tourney where teams can meet again, but this is Collegiate Football. It's never, ever happened this way before. It's almost like Alabama gets to play with "house money" while LSU has to put up everything they've earned from day one.

 

I think it's the great question of this year's national title game.

It hasn't happened in the BCS era, but it's happened before. #3 Florida whipped #1 FSU in the 1996 Surgar Bowl to win a consensus National Championship. This after FSU beat Florida in the final regular season game.

The people who don't want Bama in the title game are wearing out the "they had their chance and lost!" line. OK St had their chance too. If they beat Iowa State (a much easier task than beating LSU), then they're in.

 

Why should Oklahoma State's loss to Iowa State matter less than Bama's loss to LSU?

If Alabama wins they get the trophy simply because they won when it counted the most. It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish. Does it mean that Alabama is the undisputed best team in college football? No, only that they were better on that particular day when it counted the most.
