As far as the players and coaches of the team, it is. As far as the way they are playing now compared to when they played Beechwood and New Cath the first time, the team is completely different. HC has been nothing but impressive since the start of the playoffs. If HC and Beechwood were to play now, the result wouldn't be anything near what their last meeting was IMO.

 

HC had a nice regular season with an 8-2 record, but I can't remember the last time I saw a team look as improved as they have from the regular season in to the playoffs. They are playing like a completely different team. I believe that the biggest difference has been the defense.

Also, the offense has found a way to exploit some pretty good defenses. Bottom line is, Holy Cross has a great game plan for the playoffs. I can tell you now they out-coached NCC, and I would assume they did tonight as well.

Nice job Holy Cross. Way to stick to your game plan while they were trying to bully you off the field. Personal fouls by Somerset were pitiful. I can understand a few when the frustration sets in but that was rediculous and that I blame on coaching not the players.

Great second half by Holy Cross after Somerset came out and tied it up. Kyle Fuller completely caught fire and was just unstoppable in the second half. If he throws the ball like that next week Holy Cross will beat Glasgow by 3 scores. There were several times that he put a ball in a very small window with good coverage from the Jumpers. He's a very good quarterback. Great run by the Briar Jumpers this season and the seniors have a lot to be proud of: a 41-13 overall record, 3 district championships, 3 regional championship and a state runner up. Continue to work hard and be as successful in life as you have been on the field.

I'm not sure what was said to you, but I'm sure it was in response to the personal fouls, unsportsmenlike conducts, and cheap shots against their sons. I have never seen 3 personal fouls on one play like tonight. The last PAT attempt by HC was a perfect example. Fuller KNELT with the ball instead of kicking, running or passing for a 49th point. Somerset was called for unnecessary roughness on the play! HC was hoping not to get anyone hurt.

 

Personal fouls or not there is no excuse for the harassment of fans by other fans--especially when, as noted, they were not saying anything to the Holy Cross fans on their way out of the stadium. I'm not excusing any of the personal fouls but it did not help matters any that the group of Holy Cross fans sitting outside of the fence directly behind the Somerset team continually taunted and cursed the team while openly drinking from a bottle. Those were kids, several of them playing their last game and I understand them getting upset at was being said to them. The police finally intervened and had them leave but I think a lot of the frustration that came out was a result of what was being said. That is still not an excuse for the personal fouls but they are kids and hopefully they will learn from it--unlike the adults.

There was not a single person drinking. "From an open bottle". There was police everywhere. And the arguing between the 2 sets of fans went both ways.

Whitley Co. fans complained loudly about Somerset players trying to intentionally injure players during their game. Somerset has traditionally had too classy of a program to allow these type of things to occur, something the coaching staff needs to clean up.

Those were not actual Holy Cross fans behind Somerset. They were there just because it was a game. They were asked to leave by a Holy Cross fan and assured him they would not root for HC again. Thats ok we do not need that type of support.

After the first half admin for the game had to ask plenty of Somerset fans to leave the sidelines for the same reasons. They were the reason the cops were in that corner to begin with. Bottom line, I agree 100%, adults need to act like adults.

They have a field that is used for practice, JV, Freshman and youth games that has a locker room. Not large enough of a setting for Varsity.

I agree, the personal fouls are a coaching issue no matter how you look at it. 1 on 2 things, coaches cant control their players or they allow them to do it. To think that that many are anything different is simply allowing it to happen yourself.
