If that event is moved can a school back out of it? We had to pay money and we have to sell an allotted number of tickets also. We can't sell those tickets for a showcase that is not going to be at Rupp.

Yep. The contract calls for games to be played at Rupp Arena on December 11th. If we don't play at Rupp Arena on December 11 then I hope we choose not to play and get our money back for a voided contract. The sponsor can take up their money lost with the NCAA and KHSAA.

You said you were siding with the NCAA. I simply pointed out what kind of inconsistent & preposterous decisions they've made lately.

 

Let me ask you: Are you opposed to the "Clash At Cameron "--a similar event hosted by Duke?

Anyone who sides with the NCAA on this comes from a different place than I come from. Terrible rule. Plain and simple. I am hopeful that one day soon the NCAA is a thing of the past.

If its in Cameron and a player is there that is being recruited by Duke then it's no different at all. Yes it is my bad, it's on Dukes campus.

If this is the extent of a kid's dreams then he or she is in pretty sad shape IMVHO. Not to single you out for this but I can't believe how melodramatic some in this thread are. They've changed the venue of a basketball SCRIMMAGE not canceled an audience with the queen.

 

I'm not trying to single you out but you're from a different world if you don't understand that it's a huge deal for high school kids to play in Rupp Arena.

That's terrible. Playing in Rupp is a major deal for those kids, no question.

There's nothing at all wrong with these events, regardless of the venue. The majority of the participants are afforded an opportunity they can normally only dream of-- playing @ Rupp, Cameron, Chapel Hill, etc.

May not be the dumbest but it's in the top 5. If the NCAA has nothing better to do with their time than create problems for the kids that may have only this one opportunity to play at Rupp then they should be investigated themselves.
