I know that I heard from a friend that Garrard County beat Paris by 1. I don't know the final score, but that is what I heard.

What about the Sweet 16? Are we moving it to Scott County High School? There are UK recruits around the state - that event can't be played in Rupp ARena anymore. Right?

I'm not trying to single you out but you're from a different world if you don't understand that it's a huge deal for high school kids to play in Rupp Arena.

 

I played HS basketball in Kentucky and I could have cared less whether I played in Rupp Arena or not.

I'd say at least 50% of Ky high school kids would love to play in Rupp Arena. Senior Night at Boyle County in February 2010 there were two seniors that answered the question, "what is your greatest basketball memory" with......"getting a chance to play in Rupp Arena."

 

No big deal until you realize that they were freshman when they went to Rupp and did nothing more than go through the team warmups and warm the bench.

 

May not be a big deal to you but there are hundreds more who would love it and never forget it.

One is playing football for Morehead and the other is at Hanover on an academic scholarship. I don't know of any kids whose lifelong dream is to play at Rupp. I am sure there may be some out there but I don't know of any. I agree they should aim higher for life but I see nothing wrong with that being a basketball goal for a Ky kid.

I think everyone's missing the point here: the NCAA sent a letter to Bleid Sports in the Summer saying it was OK to have the events and then they (NCAA) waited until Thanksgiving Day to let everyone know they changed their mind and wouldn't let anyone play because it gave UK an "unfair recruiting advantage". Are you kidding me? NCAA geniuses, do you think maybe UK has an unfair recruiting advantage anyway? How would playing in relatively empty Rupp Arena further that advantage? Again, and finally, THIS WAS A JOKE AND PROBABLY THE MOST STUPID RULING THE NCAA HAS EVER MADE and all it did was disappoint a bunch of high school kids, parent and administrators on THANKSGIVING DAY. I thought the NCAA said this had to deal with non-sanctioned/non-scholastic events only? That would mean the events scheduled for this past weekend would have be okay, If so, then what was the reasoning behind not playing at Rupp this past weekend? I know Dixie was supposed to play Scott Co there.

 

BUT, I agree with you that the NCAA is a JOKE! The NCAA has NO business deciding who is able or not able to play at an arena off campus that is not owned by a school! It's a private business matter. I last heard Bleid was going to take the NCAA to court, is that still in the works or not?
