Conner 84 Franklin County 48

Featured Replies

This game tells me that they never faced a really strong offense that forced them to get out of what they do. Conner gave an early punch to the mouth and it forced FC to change their strategy. When they had to pass they couldn't.

Hats off to Coach Trosper, Delph, Helmig, and the rest of the staff.

That really wasn't it Clyde. FC has a very strong passing game. This was won in the trenches. The O line was very very good. Also, when the FC QB fumbled at the goal line early and Conner struck back quickly, that's when is started to snowball. Tackling was absolutely terrible by FC, all night long. Good adjustments at the half by Conner too. Congrats again to those guys.

So the fact that they got behind and started to pass more in the 2nd half didn't have anything to do with Conner's offense? 4 picks didn't show that their passing isn't something they've needed much this year?

How many times have they been down by 14+ in the 2nd half this season?

Conner played 29 basketball games last season.

Never reached 80 points.

Frankilin County played 28 basketball games... never gave up more than 80.

They have passed for over 2,000 yards this year. 2 of the picks were terrible, but 2 were off his receivers hands. You do realize that FC was inside the 10 yard line 3 times without scoring? Turnovers killed them in the red zone, along with terrible tackling on D. Check the stats on the FC passing from this year. They were down big to East Jessamine when they still had Cameron Thomas. And it was at home.

I read today that the 835 yards of total offense was 2nd most in state history.

Im just saying...it had to have all been on offense for Franklin because if they have talent on Defense and gave up 84 points to Conner....not Trinity or Highlands...its Conner than thats scary. No Disrespect to Conner but wasnt this game supposed to be pretty even.

I agree.

Lay off the FC faithful there team lost and in dramatic fashion, hats off to them because 11 times this year they had it right and I don't care who you play that takes alot of talent, and hard work, especially when your not a perennial power. Next year they will be the team to beat.

Is there any details as to what went wrong on the Flyer defense, they have given up points but never like this? were any of the scores special teams or turnover related?

Next year they will be the team to beat.

No they won't. They won't play defense. 84 is an stupid number to give up, but they have given up a bunch of points all year.

They have a lot of work to do in the off season if they wan to be the team to beat. They will need to find a defense and learn how to find ways to win when their opponents are playing well. With that said, I think they will be one of the better teams in the region next year and hopefully will be able to compete with the northern ky teams.

Good post. Great season for the Flyers, but congrats to Conner - what an overwhelming performance. I am not an authority on current KY high school football, but when on the outside looking in at Franklin County, I always had the impression that there were great athletes, particularly at skill positions for Franklin County, but not a lot of depth. Thus, the same athletes playing offense are many of the ones playing defense. For the entire season, up to this game, Franklin County was able to win all the "track meets". They just ran into a situation where they didn't optimize all of their possessions or it may have been 84 to 69 :jump: does that sound better?

No.

Good news for Conner is that they will return 3/5 lineman mentioned in the article back next season as well as 3/4 mentioned above. Couple that with a one loss JV squad and you got somethin' goin for 2012.

No.
