I may be wrong but I don't think the birds made the playoffs in 91. So that would be my guess.

JC's strength on O plays to Highlands' weakness on D and that is running b/n the tackles. Bruns is very good and the D-Ends are good, however, overall the Birds struggle when the opposition is able to run right at them. If you run counters, or try to get outside, no dice. However, the veer may be perfect. That being said, if JC fails to score on one or two possessions in the first half, they'll find themselves behind by 10+ and that will create a huge snowball effect b/c they won't be able to pass to get back into it.

It was a 20-14 loss to Montgomery County. We also lost to Campbell County that year.

And had an OT thriller against NewCath. Scarlatto was awesome.

Wow!!! By the looks of the poll JC might as well just stay home. Come on people, JC is a good team, not a great team, but a good team. A team that very few others in this great State of KY can say they have done. They are the only team ever to have played the Birds this close without a Win so lets not forget that and remember "they put their uniforms on the same way as Highland does".

I like watching the video and the reaction (eyes) of the people when they realize they are on video.

Sorta of like an episode of "The Office" or something.............

All three teams in the video won their games that night in 2009. Ironically, they all lost the following week.

 

Lawrence County beat Knox Central (19-0). But they got clobbered the following week by Bell County by a score of 41-0.

 

Johnson Central defeated CovCath (51-32). They lost to Highlands the following week (42-21).

 

Letcher County Central defeated Harlan (14-13). They lost to Pulaski County the following week (31-14).

I love the Letcher kid saying "I can't stand Harlan County!" There have been so many speeches like that over the years. I remember saying similar things about rivals in every sport. And then you go on to work and live with those "enemies" once you get older, chuckling about the "hatred" you used to have. But it means everything when you are playing.
