My prediction is Moeller will do everything in their power to knock your starting QB out of the game ,literally !!! This includes , but not limited to , late hits , cheap shots , bite fingers in the pile , any thing clean or dirty . It's no big secret either . On another site the GCL and GMC teams are bragging how they knocked Bardo and Towles and two other HHS QB's out of the game , and also said they were taught to do that. I'm just posting what I read by people that are "in the know " of Ohio high school football.

In return this is me bragging that Highlands won both of those games.

I don't much care for John Rodenburg, but I seriously doubt he is teaching his players to do that. At least he didn't used to.

In my post I didn't use any names , because the Ohio fans didn't use any names , so it's like if the shoe fits............. ?

I want to be perfectly honest why I posted my pevious posts in this thread. It is not to stir the pot , or not because I don't like Ohio football because I do like the interstate rivalry games amoung the elite teams. If there is wrong intensions of coaches telling players to do whatever needs to be done to win a game ,wrong or right , it should be addressed by the HSAA or some higher authority. Should refs be advised or trained better to watch for suspect behavior , or when in doubt of a late hit or a flagrant foul to throw the flag in order to protect players and show that such activity will not be tolerated.

Back in the 70's and 80's it was very common to go to games and practices ( even in August two a days ), and you could not find a water bottle . So after a few guys had heat related illnesses , do to hydration , the water bottles slowly started appearing. Then after several deaths due to heat , teams take frequent water breaks and players have all the water they want ,whenever they want it. People related to high school football realized that you can drink water and not be considered weak.

The concussion is a very serious injury . I will use the latest concussion for reference , not because it was Highlands , not because it was Pat Towles , because it was a young man with a head injury that didn't know it or realize it at the time. Two plays later he scores a touchdown that afterward does not even remember it. What if he had taken another serious blow to the head , we could be talking about something more serious than sitting out a game or two.Head injuries are being very much headlined in all football fom pee wee to the pros , the pros have the best helmets made , what is your kid wearing ? IMO , any helmet to helmet contact with a defensless player should be some form of suspension. Yea , it's a judgement call but when in doubt throw the flag and protect the players. I just read an article where a HS player died of head trauma in NJ , playing football on Friday night . I just want to keep ours and your kids safe as possible , is that asking too much ?

Having seen both teams in person this year I predict a 42 - 21 Trinity win. Moeller got ahead of Lou X 14 -0 in the first quarter. Alex Mattingly was spectacular in the 2nd and 3rd quarters before being injured. He brought X to within 14 -10 before the injury and had Moeller on their heels and a huge upset was looming. Hats off to Moeller's coach who came over to the X sideline after the game to console Mattingly. Nice to see such respect from a gracious winner these days. If Trinity keeps Medaris in check they will win going away.

My hand is raised... I have a question. When was the last time Moeller lost 3 games in a row? I'd think that is a pretty rare thing but I admit I do not know Moeller history.

Moeller last lost 3 straight back in 2006 when then went 5-5 which happened to be the last 3 games of the year. I assume based on their record that was also the last time that Moe did not go to the playoffs. Oh......to remember the good old days of Crusader football.......1974, 1975, 1976, 1977.....3 state championships......2 national championships.....only 1 loss in 4 years. After that, 1978-1982, 3 more state championships....3 more national championships.....2 losses total in that time period. From 1969 to 1985, Moe lost 2 games in a year only once. They don't play cupcakes either...they were one of the first schools to actively seek games with the best teams in other states. In summary:

Program Highlights

OVERALL RECORD: 391-87-2

5 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

7 STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

87 ALL-OHIO PLAYERS

35 ALL-AMERICAN PLAYERS

389 SCHOLARSHIP ATHLETES

Tradition doesn't win football games (including Friday night against Trinity). But it is interesting to look at history.

Someone recently sent me a lot of information about Trinity's records against opponents, and I noticed that Trinity has never beaten Cincinnati Moeller. It seems these two programs have played only once (in 1997), with Moeller winning that contest. Not many programs have a perfect record against the Shamrocks in football, and after tonight I highly doubt Moeller's perfect record against THS will remain intact!

Coach R was quoted yesterday as saying he has to play his starters or it will be a "100-0" game.

It's been a rough few days up on Montgomery Road, and I doubt the mood gets much better after Friday.

The good news for Trinity fans is most among the Moeller alumni/fan base have all but conceded this game. If you have ever spent any time around GCL people, and Moeller people in particular, you would know that is high praise indeed. Three weeks ago, Moeller could have been playing OSU at the Shoe and most Moe fans would have called it a pickem. :D

Because of Ohio's playoff system, this game will have an impact on Moeller's postseason fuuture. They're in the playoffs, but where they end up seeded will be determined by this game. The million dollar question is, Is a potentially better seed worth risking injury to kids you'll need to make a run next week?

I know the Harbin's pretty well, and my guess is the answer is no. As long as they don't fall far enough to draw into a first round game with X, Colerain, or maybe Middletown, the Crusaders powers that be probably don't care who they play next week. Even if it costs them a home playoff game. Heck, they could end up at Sycamore, which is much closer to school than their actual home field.

From looking at the Harbins it looks like the worst case scenario is Moeller finishes 4th which is where they are now. There is only a very small chance they move up higher than 4th even with a victory over T.

I think that Trinity wins by at least 14, maybe more.

What did Coach Beatty mean in the paper today when he refered to the ones vs. ones at practice on Wednesday? I think he meant that the Shamrocks will be ready to play tonight, especially after the bye week. Anyone else have a take on this? He is a very good big-game coach, IMO.

That Trinity's kids are ready to play after the week off. I guess the 1 vs. 1 on Wednesday was a bit spirited.
