Would you say it was the 2000 team that beat Trinity 49 - 28 in that season's opener?

Actually 42 - 29 was the score.

Offensively very very good. Defense scares me.

It will be hard to compare this team to any prior Bluebird team due to the extremely weak schedule.... I have never seen anything like this before.

I could see another really close game if they play Cov Cath again or maybe even Lex Cath.

See, this misses my point completely. I am NOT asking if this team is better than any other HHS team, but whether any other HHS team has dominated it's opponents the way this one has. If this is due to a weak schedule, so be it, but dominance is dominance. Another way to ask this would be, "Has any HHS team outscored it's opponents the way this year's team is?"

For those of you that simply say, "No" - what team was more dominate? One person said Lorenzen's team (1998, I believe). What stat's I could find, it does look like they were a very high scoring team, but I was unable to find game scores from that season. Anybody know where those could be found?

CovCath scored 37 points. The most scored by an NKY team against Highlands in over 13 years. I'd say not even close. Plus their most difficult opponent is Elder and they have not played them yet.

Couldn't have been put better.

Fishhead, thanks for the link. That puts things in perspective. The 'Birds have had quite a few dominating seasons - some more dominating than this one.

It's obvious that over the years the Birds have had many coaches and no two coaches are the same. Some pulled the starters earlier , some later , depends on the situation of course . Then you have the twos and threes that are likely to be stronger or weaker from year to year. It's nice to have JB Will's website with all the scores , but can you judge dominence even with the final scores ? Thanks for the link Fish , it's fun reading history. Also , should the strength of schedule be thrown in as another variable ?

I think strength of schedule has a LOT to do with a team's dominance in any given year. Weak opponents = more dominance, and vice versa. My definition of dominance is how thoroughly a team beats it's opponents. Therefore a strong team against a weak team = greater dominance. That's why a great team that plays a tough schedule may not be as dominating as a really good team that plays a weak schedule. The great team is better than the really good team, but the really good team may be more dominating.

If a team's 2's and 3's are strong, they will probably be more dominant.

It's a very good team, and I don't mean to take anything away from them as far as that is concerned, but their "dominance" over most of the competition has been partly due to lack of strength in many of the programs they are matched up against this season...through no fault of Highlands.
