Highlands 1989 AAA State Champs.

That senior class won 1 game as freshman. Very senior dominated team in 89. There, I just named one..... Coaching does indeed make a little bit of difference...

 

This is pulling one out of the air. I think this is a great example of how a coach can destroy talent also. Paducah Tighlman had 7 athletes sign D1 that year. 5 with Louisville. That coach had by far the best talent 3 years in a row and did not win a title.

At the end of the day the kids are the ones who will be hurt the worse.In there minds they have to be thinking who will be at the helm next year and thereafter. Dixie does not lack athletes,facilities,enrollment and fan support .IMO,The program is lacking buy in and the Head Coach and staff have failed that aspect.Just watching discipline level issues on the prior BGP posts is telling me something about the current leadership .Current and future players and parents have their challenges ahead of them.

Yeah...it took me a while, but now I know why all the bashing of other teams and coaches happens out of FT Thomas....LOL.

I think the results of the Boone County & Campbell County games are pretty telling. Coaching staff has a team that is perfectly capable of playing with and beating talented teams, but the coaching staff doesn't appear to have the ability to keep them motivated to play to their potential week after week. That's a big problem.

A coach doesn't have to have talent to win. Schemes win. It is the same at every level.

You have no idea what you are talking about. Schemes can hinder a group or free up a group to excell. That is all. Jimmies and Joes are needed to win big. Work ethic and Belief are needed to win big.

Yes it was and I can tell you, when we were doing the county fair, everyone loved getting to Spritzky's station because it was a breather for us.

Actually its not funny. Littleluck described Tom S to a tee. A good guy, who cares about the kids and is passionate, maybe he is a little soft, who really cares, as an assistant I think you can get away with this type of thing but as a Head Coach it doesnt cut it. At the end of the day though I honestly wished Tom success, not against Highlands, but against everyone else.

I do know that the last few yrs have been painful to watch as an outsider so I can only imagine whats going on over at Dixie.

Well, even if Tom doesnt return next yr and despite the few bad yrs he encountered he will still leave Dixie a better place then when he arrived. That he should be proud of.
