Are you saying that SK "should" have 7-8 wins this season? I hope that's not what you meant. Great coaches have always had great players. Any coach is only as good as his talent on the field. Marksberry had some great players come through his system in Simpson and Lawrence. Everyone should know that these type of guys don't come along every year. Let Spritzky and Marksberry coach HHS and/or Trinity and you all would vote them as coach of the year.It is what it is.

Wanting a good education and being part of a winner is why kids and parents move to Ft. Thomas...You probably should of tried it....:banana:

Actually it is very human to make that assumption when talking about 2 very successful football programs. I have a brother in law that played at Campbell County back in the early 90's. He actually played on the last team to beat HHS. He absolutely despised what HHS stood for until he married and moved to town. He was amazed of the support the town and community provided for such a small school. He often commented he knew now why people hated and wanted what HHS had. I really feel for the Dixie football program. It seemed that they might be headed in the right direction. Obviously not....It's time for a change!

Lets not thread jack this one. Back to the title and hopefully it stays there. I think a poster already summed it up and guaranteed it. The program has promise and due to some, IMO, "not buying in" over the years, it hasn't worked out.

Show me ANY championship team and great coach and I will show you the great players that were part of that team. Gotta have the horses to get it done. I could give hundreds of examples. Great coaches have great players. Tell me one team that has won a championship that didn't have great talent and won solely because of a great coach with no talent. Just doesn't happen. Let Dale coach out at Grant County and see how he does.

I'm going to say this is his last year, but it's not because of the team's performance. His girls are getting older, and he's now the assistant principle. My guess is that he has stuck around the past couple years to see what this senior class could do.

Don't want to thread jack, but I am not sure how you would define "far exceed". I wouldn't see them winning any District Championships, let alone State Championships unless he had some real studs move in there. Why is the attitude at Dixie so bad? Are you saying that the attitude issues lie with Coach Spritzky? So you are saying that they have plenty of talent, but there just needs to be an attitude adjustment and all would be well? I gotta believe that Coach Spritzky is being used a scapegoat here, because it's easy to take shots at the coach and people need someone to blame for Dixie's woes this season. When teams struggle, it's usually a multitude of issues that are at the root of the cause.

Wouldn't disagree with multitude of reasons; however, when the leader (QB) of the team is allowed to do what he does (and I won't drag all issues up here for fear of those who claim we shouldn't talk about a teenager on these threads in a derogatory manner), this leads to dissension among the ranks. Spritzky could have controlled this and didn't. Thus, the attitude of the whole team has gone down hill (not that it was anything great to begin with). I guarantee this wouldn't have happened at a number of better programs in the area i.e. HHS, CCH, BW to name a few. There is a quite a bit of talent at the school, so I wouldn't blame it on not having talent.

A change for Dixie would start in the spring, in the summer, and in the weight room. Thats when and where football players are forged. Lack of commitment in those areas become blatantly evident on 1st Friday night they line up against someone else

I think a change at this point is a must. The thrill and passion is gone [or it appears to be]. Nothing against current coaches on staff but Dixie needs to clean house - no promoting from within'. I agree with the Guru - Tom is a great guy and has done a lot of good for the school and the community. Anyhow Dixie has a nice freshman group coming up so the timing couldn't be better for a change.

I am pretty sure Dixie has a quarterback going to the defending national champion. They definately have some talent. People keep bringing up Highlands because of their talent. Success breeds success so yes, there is a lot of talent who wants to play for Highlands. There are also a lot of kids who work hard. And as Tim Tebow said, "Hard work will outperform talent when talent doesn't work hard." I believe Highlands takes a lot of regular Joes and makes them outstanding. Not to say they don't get talent too. If I remember correctly, Towles wasn't even the starting Freshman quarterback. I may be wrong though.

I believe he has given to the football program as well. Prior to him taking over this program, Dixie hadn't beaten CovCath or Highlands in over twenty years. Dixie beat Highlands in 2002 and has beaten CovCath several times in his tenure. This year's team has been decimated by Injuries particularly Seth Bruns and Colin Justice. Don't forget his team's victory over Trinity in 2004. And please don't say everybody gets lucky once in a while. How many former or current head coaches in N.Ky have ever beaten Trinity. I say let the man make the decision that is best for him, the program, and his family.
