In most years, Beechwood-Elizabethtown would be a pretty good matchup. This just happens to be Elizabethtown's worst team in years.

Would definately be good games to see. I don't think there's much seperation in the 3. I'd throw Bgreen in there, as well.

I can't disagree, they would be excellent games to see. I believe that the Purples definitely belong in that mix too.

I would agree with the bold above. That was the argument some wanted to make two years ago and we saw how that worked out.

 

On Beechwood's schedule, don't discount Holy Cross as a good team. I know the Tigers put a whipping on them but I think Holy Cross is a very good team and in the top ten in the state in 2A, maybe top 5. I also would not discount Dixie too much. I still wouldn't be shocked if Dixie wins 6A in N. Ky. and that is a solid 6A district. Dixie has already beaten Boone Co. so the big game for the title in that district will be Dixie versus Ryle and Dixie could pull it off if they get healthy.

 

 

But you are absolutely right. I pay little to no attention to the schedule debate because Mayfield has more than proven that their schedule is plenty tough enough.

 

 

Typically, NKy 6a is solid. This year, not so much. They do have alot of parity, but, noone that sticks out as a real contender, even if Trinity weren't in the mix. Ryle, Dixie, SKenton are definately down in comparison to the past few years. Boone may be a little better than recent years, but, even at that, just puts them about on par with the other 3.

Mayfield is undefeated and won the state championship last year. They are and should remain #1. There is no question.

Snakesnot.......for the most part I enjoy your posts but nobody thinks the comments about BW frosh being champs is funny anymore. You have been mentioning it lately more than anyone else. Stick to your usual creativity and give that topic a rest for crying out loud. Would any program be optimistic about their future if their Frosh team was winless? I don't think so.

Ram you might turn out to be right but I would argue that you are giving more credit to who they beat than I would. The 1 thing that stands out to me is the CC game, that was a hell of a showing by Bw much like their showing against NCC last year. Aside from that I am not sold of Dixie or Skenton as being all that. I would also point out that you made similar claims the last 2 years though last year you sort of went back and forth and we all know how that turned out. I do believe there is no question that these are the best 2 teams in the class and I think the last 2 years and this year that it is a shame they are on the same side of the bracket becasue they should have the best 2 playing for the title on neutral fields for the title.

 

I will agree that I though Beechwood would win it all in 2009. Last year I was back and fourth, I thought Beechwood was going to do it all at the beginning of the year, but as the year went on I sided with Mayfield. But, this year I honestly think Beechwood is the stronger team. But, I love an underdog, and the good news for Mayfield is, to me, you all are the underdog. Prove me wrong and I will be the first to cheer for you.

Never meant for it be funny. I just have always wondered why that was a gold stamp or something. You can only say so much about why either one one should be #1 but to me Beechwood has done nothing to justify any claim to #1 other than potential. Mayfield is 35 and 2 since 09 and been to 2 straight championship games. They return a very very strong defense thats better than last years, the offense is getting better and better. Mayfield has done it on the field the last 2 plus years and they are not going on potential and until Beechwood beats Mayfield or shows that they can beat a team thats as good or near as good as Beechwood , I believe they are playing second fiddle.
