They return a very very strong defense thats better than last years

 

Good point, the defense is as good as I have seen, espically against the run and they have been doing it with 3 starters out for the last 4 games. The run defense is why I think Bw will find the sledding tough against Mf. Bw to this point seems to be much more run oriented with their 2 great backs and I just don't think that they will have alot of success running against us, no one has all year and Vocke has never made any impact in his first two games against Mf. I can't recall his stats against Mf but I doubt he has managed 50 yards in the previous 2 games.

Most people are aware of the success that Mayfield has over Beechwood and there is a possibility that they still are better. However, if Beechwood had great chances at beating them, I believe that this season is likely one of their best opportunities to do it. I know that Beechwood lost to Cov Cath, but they played them pretty well. IMO, there isn't a team that will beat Cov Cath in 4A except Highlands, maybe Lex Cath, which speaks good volume in itself.

 

However, we will definitely see if the game is to happen again, which I believe the chances are good. Best of luck on the remainder of the season and postseason to both teams.

Never meant for it be funny. I just have always wondered why that was a gold stamp or something. You can only say so much about why either one one should be #1 but to me Beechwood has done nothing to justify any claim to #1 other than potential. Mayfield is 35 and 2 since 09 and been to 2 straight championship games. They return a very very strong defense thats better than last years, the offense is getting better and better. Mayfield has done it on the field the last 2 plus years and they are not going on potential and until Beechwood beats Mayfield or shows that they can beat a team thats as good or near as good as Beechwood , I believe they are playing second fiddle.

I think both Mayfield and Beechwood could care less about being number one. If they both take care of business then we shall see who is number one!

 

:thumb: Very well said, the ratings are for the fans to argue about and thats all. As for my opinion, I believe that Beechwood is probaby the best in 1A. I also know why Mayfield is ranked at 1, they haven't lost and I have no problem with Mayfield being at #1. Both are by far the two best in 1A and could really ranked on top and I wouldn't dispute either one.

What I am waiting to see is if Fairview has moved up, they were at 5 and imo could possibly move higher.

 

And, if both school's fans would quit the sandbagging and bragging on the other team, I think they would both agree with that.

We got there and played a very bad game against a very good team. But we are talking about Beechwood and them getting blown off the field the last 2 years. Oh yes, blown off , the 38-0 in 09 was mercifull because Mayfield stopped in the 3rd quarter plus 2 tds were called back. Last year we took on a knee a the 2 yard line to end the game. Oh yes, we are talking about Beechwood and them not getting it done the last 2 and a half seasons and why should they be # 1 . Its the same ole same ole here about 100 against 4. Same thing the last 2 years Blah blah Beechwood this and that but what have they really done , then and now? Nothing.

I would assume thats what he meant. The year Mayfield got beaten badly by LCA, they defeated Bwood 38-0, so, I would have to think they would have been taken to the woodshed as bad and probably worse had they made the finals. LCA had an outstanding offensive line and Mayfield couldn't get any pressure on the QB, who was very elusive as a runner and had a very good and accurate arm. When they did start making it more difficult thru the air, the RB(his name escapes) with the tree trunk legs carried the load. He was a hoss in his own right. They were a very solid team. Mayfield moved the ball well offensively the whole game, but, like Hazard in last years title game, they kept shooting themselves in the foot with ints, fumbles and penalties and it snowballed from there, but, without a doubt, LCA was the better team in nearly every facet of the game, OL, Size, depth, kicking game, backfield, QB, etc.. Mayfield may have had the better WRs and a little more speed, but, when you're getting whipped up front, that didn't matter much.

I'm not sure LCA would have won 2a that year. Ft Campbell was on a pretty stout 3 yr run about that time and they would have been a load for anyone. Would have been a great game between LCA and them though. Mayfield beat PT that year, who won the 3a title, so, i agree with you about 3a..

All I know is I hate the 6 class setup. It would be great to go back to 4 classes and have more than 3-4 teams to talk about. How great would 1a be if they went back to 4 classes. Teams like Somerset, NCC, OB Catholic, Murray, Cov HCross, LCA and Danville added to Mayfield, Beechwood, Hazard and Holy Cross would be alot of fun.

The thing that is absolutely hilarious about this whole debate is besides RAM, there is only one person who is claiming Beechwood should be #1. Who is it? Not a Beechwood fan. I don't think any Beechwood fans are laying claim to #1. No, the person saying Beechwood is #1 is snakesnot! :lol: :lol: And then he goes off about how overrated Beechwood is and has done nothing to earn #1 over the past two years. Come on my man! VOR, my count is atleast 3, Ram, Snake and OldRambler with hrcarrier and Clyde hinting they feel that way so that would be about half who have replied in this thread. I use to think Bw but Mf has suprised me so far but Caldwell still lerks and we all know what they did in 09

Old Rambler has given a very soft vote for BW but neither hrcarrier nor Clyde are saying it and none of the three are arguing that BW should be #1. RAM is arguing for BW and so is snakesnot. None of those people are Beechwood supporters.
