I know this has nothing to do with this thread but can someone explain the playoff situation for Highlands and Cov cath as far as home games and road games a what round would they meet if they both continue to win?

 

Short Answer - assuming HHS and CCH are #1 and #2 seeds in D7, they could not face until ROUND 3.

R3, D5 - Boyle County, Lexington Catholic, Marion County, Mercer County, Taylor County

R3, D6 - Clay County, Knox Central, Rockcastle County, Russell County

R4, D7 - Covington Catholic, Harrison County, Highlands, Holmes, Pendleton County

R4, D8 - Ashland Blazer, Boyd County, Greenup County, Johnson Central, Rowan County

 

1st 3 Rounds are District v. District as follows:

 

ROUND 1

D7#4 @ D8#1 in Game 1 ("G1")

D7#3 @ D8#2 in G2

D8#4 @ D7#1 in G3

D8#3 @ D7#2 in G4

 

ROUND 2

G5 = Winner of G1 v. Winner of G4 (better seed hosts)

G6 = Winner of G2 v. Winner of G3 (better seed hosts)

 

ROUND 3

G7 - Winner of G5 v. Winner of G6 (better seed hosts; if = seeds, odd district hosts in odd years (D7 in 2011), even hosts in even years)

 

ROUND 4

R4 v. R3 (odd region hosts in odd years (R3 in 2011), even hosts in even years)

I haven't seen Hitchew but I think it would tough to see someone better than Towles. If Pike were on a better team, I think he would be right there with Towles, again that's another if and yet is my opinon.

I don't think so. Who are you kidding??? Those players were & are really good and would have improved Highlands team but #1 in the nation? Are you serious? You must have been talking to Dale again!

My two cents is that NCC should play HHS and Covcath every year or vice versa. I am NC grad but now a bluebird. The games against covcath and hhs were the most fun. I remember dropping off blue and gold balloons at hhs circle friday after school game day.I think we are to PC these days and rivalries have lost their luster. NCC even with them being a smaller school competes in every sports program. I think NCC HHS playing each year early would be a sellout and a lot of fun.

I think Highlands would benefit from this game by playing someone around here besides CovCath who will actually give them a game. NewCath would benefit just by what they learn from going up against the Birds. It's a win-win (and a huge gate).

Best in the nation is stretching it, but I do believe that the linemen you are referring to from last season's team and Hitchew would of not had any trouble playing for just about anyone else in KY and possibly the same amount of schools in OH.

I agree and I think the Kelly kid and Cain kid would have been able to play just about anywhere too.

I dont know about all that, but I know they would have won the District Basketball championship this yr with them.

I disagree. I have watched quite a bit of both over the last 4 years. NewCath wins 2 out of ten, 4 14 and less losses and 4 blowouts. And, to reply to another post in another thread, last year would have been the game of the year in NKY.

SK. Last year NCC was the 5th best team in NKY, IMHO. They are a very good small school program. Highlands would gain nothing from beating them. IF, NCC were to beat them...it would be a bad loss for Highlands
