Come on down. Not only is the stadium top notch there are several establishments within walking distance for a good pre-game meal (and adult libation if you are so inclined).

When you get used to watching games on turf grass just never looks like it's well-maintained. It spoils you. Where before I would not have noticed lumps in a grass field it's the first thing that catches my attention. After seeing highlights of Conner's field from this past Friday it really makes me appreciate games on turf. I hate to see games where the wet/muddy field influences play especially with teams now passing more.

This is our football field and football only. Soccer has their own stadium. The field will play host to around 20 games total between varsity, jv, middle school and elem. No practices, each has their own practice facility. If you make the drive to see Beechwood play on it assuming both win out then you can judge it for yourself. Pride in keeping the field dates as long as I can recall and we get alot of comments about what a perfect field it is though I have heard some from Beechwood make the claim that the crown on it bothered the Tigers play when they were there 2 years ago

Regarding a grass field, I think Holmes does a nice job maintaining theirs. It had to keep the on-field temperature down about 10 degrees on the very hot night that Beechwood played there a couple of weeks ago. I don't know if it was the grass or the player's conditioning, or both, but I saw very little cramping, if any.

I hope you are kidding.. My sons team played a pee wee game there last year and you couldn't even see the kids on the field. It was the biggest dust bowl ever. The field was almost total dirt..

Holmes used to have one of the nicest fields in NKY. New crew took over and it's gone downhill.

Agree completely. Zero reason why ALL Boone County schools do not have field turf. Travesty.

 

Travesty wouldn't be the word I would use and I get the fact that it still comes from the taxpayers. It's a tough sell to those taxpayers that field turf $$ are more important than spending it on staff in the schools.

 

IMO Conner and Boone boosters are going to have to pay for it unless there is some major overhaul project that the school district already has in place.

Just like I don't think basketball should be using peach baskets for hoops and baseball uses true fences instead of hitting into the fans I'm cool with football evolving to turf.

Madison southern has turf and central is getting it next year.

Obviously we get on turf around here more than most teams in our area, a area that has not seen the turf yet though McCracken Co is building a new school and they will have a turf field. I think most here feel as I do but again ours is superior to most and there is great pride taken in keeping it that way. The same guy was in charge of the field for 30 some years and the guy doing it now has had 15 and another 10 under the old boss and that has made a difference. Should it ever go down I might see things differently but not now.

Danville has always had a very nice grass surface.
