Brand new for the 2010 season

 

Yes, FC played Monroe County in the 2009 2A semi-final at Austin Peay.

 

Congratulations to those kids (and fans). I'm sure it is wonderful and much easier to maintain!

They got the turf following that season.

 

I don't recall the reason for the game at APSu being due so much for bad field conditions but allowing Monroe County & Fort Campbell to have a place that accomodate the numbers of fans for the semi-final game. That and FC wanted to allow more of the clarksville support to watch the game a little easier.

Before Trinity redid their stadium a few years ago, did they play on grass?

Owensboro Catholic has played on a turf surface for the last several years. It is not their facility - believe it is Kentucky Wesleyan College there in Owensboro.

It is a superb playing surface for FC - have been told that it is the same that the Saints have in the Super Dome.

I guess....grass for the first couple of weeks.....dirt and sand between the hashes for the remainder.

When you get used to watching games on turf grass just never looks like it's well-maintained. It spoils you. Where before I would not have noticed lumps in a grass field it's the first thing that catches my attention. After seeing highlights of Conner's field from this past Friday it really makes me appreciate games on turf. I hate to see games where the wet/muddy field influences play especially with teams now passing more.

Starting from WKY and going east, and all points in between, these are the schools that I know have it for a fact:

Agree completely. Zero reason why ALL Boone County schools do not have field turf. Travesty.

I've never been, either before or after. But I have seen the new stadium pictures. And I plan on making a trip soon.
