Travesty wouldn't be the word I would use and I get the fact that it still comes from the taxpayers. It's a tough sell to those taxpayers that field turf $$ are more important than spending it on staff in the schools.

 

IMO Conner and Boone boosters are going to have to pay for it unless there is some major overhaul project that the school district already has in place.

The problem is that it hasn't happened.

Danville has always had a very nice grass surface.

 

They sure have. I can't remember the man's name but he handles all of their fields at their complex. And they always look great. He's been doing it for years if I remember correctly.

Sounds like a weak booster organization to me. If folks in Nelson Co. — a rural county where unemployment is considerably higher than Boone Co. — can come up with the cabbage, it doesn't speak too highly of those cake-eating suburbanites in Boone County.

Not to mention that the Boone County Pee Wee football league has a turf field that was installed this year. How sad is that the pee wee league can do turf and purchase themselves and neither Conner or Boone County can do that.

I wish I could get my hands on the financials that shows how much cash is moved out of Boone County and redistributed to other parts of the state under the Kentucky Education Reform Act. Lousy formula and very unfair to the hard working tax payers of Boone County.

So they build a new high school in Boone County, Cooper, and they didn't put in a turf field?
