If NKY 6A is so average what does that make the rest of 6A outside of Louisville?

Exactly my point.
Your point isn't valid.

Ballard, Butler and Manual (the programs you mention) don't enjoy the enrollment advantage that Trinity and St. Xavier do, and after the two Catholic behemoths, there is plenty of parity in 6A ... much as there was in 4A before the changes in 2007.

I'm tired of hearing the "work harder" argument. Trinity and St. Xavier enjoy some advantages that no other schools in the big class don't ... if you choose not to acknowledge that, it's not our problem.

4A by far is the most competative class in football no matter what year it seems...esspecially now with highlands in the picture even though bell county moved down a class....you would think 6A would be the most competative but its honestly for whatever reason isnt...i believe nelso county was the last team outside of louisville to win the 6A state title and that was a while ago.

RM, I said leave it like it is, but the over veiw people are fed up. Look at the teams the Rocks /X are playing and even Male. We are playing at Lexington Catholic/Boone County/ then at Eastern/open/at St X. Our next home game is with the Rocks October 14th. Then home with CAL after away Manual. We have two home games remaining. teams are not wanting to play us either and we lost to a 4A/Indiana teams.

Does anyone play a schedule like this?

Four classes, just as we used to have them, with Trinity and St. Xavier in a 5A class. They would play each other for a state title every year.

It could also serve as the "super class" that some people talk about here, but something tells me there would be no other takers.

Two teams competing for a state championship is ludicrous.

Then when Ballard, Butler and Manual are all too good, create yet another class. A few years later create a class for Fern Creek, Eastern, and Male. When do you stop? When EVERYONE wins a state championship. Wasn't it only like 15 years ago when Trinity was barely a .500 team (albeit a good one)?

There are a lot of different ways to complain, but a class for JUST T & X? That's really pushing it.

Put in the time in the weight room and film rooms that T & X does. Or a more tangible example from a couple of years ago: The news ran a story about how one high school team was dealing with the heat index by moving practice into the gym for most of the week. T moved practice to like 7 or 8 AM. Bob Beatty's quote was that he had never played a game in a gym.

I never thought this thread would move towards the private v. public debate but you are completely wrong. Bringing in the the Louisville publics is a mistake. If they are ever as good or can compete with the two main Louisville powers, bravo!!

To answer the question to the thread: NKY 6A will always be equal to Louisville 6A; outside of T and X. There may be years where Louisville will sweep the district. There may be several years in a row where NKY wins 3/4. I would say top to bottom, Louisville is better...year in year out. But NKY is better than Lexington 6A and WKY 6A. It's no secret the best big school football comes from the biggest school district in the state. But if there was a super class....put Highlands in their with them. They seem to be worried about national titles, not state titles. I'm sure they wouldn't mind if they were forgotten in the 4A playoffs.

Two teams competing for a state championship is ludicrous.
Well, if this "super class" idea is as good an option as some here seem to think, them we should have more than two schools in 5A ...

So we should all scrap the season after 3 games? It's ridiculous to say that all 6A teams are playing poor football except T and X.

- Pleasure Ridge Park is 3-0 with a combined score of 139-28

- Scott County is 3-0 with a combined score of 152-12

- Boone County is 3-0 with a combined score of 82-27

- Plus, three other 6A teams are 2-0

Someone is sure to reply with an "easy schedules" comment, but most of these coaches are pulling their starters once they hit a running clock. Typically, their opponents are scorring on the 2nd string defense. Looks like good football to me.

jack, nice research. Male two losses one was by seven to a very good Floyd Central team and Male had the ball first and goal from the five, holding call killed them, against Western they had first and goal from the ten with a few minutes left and Western scored very late, so both losses were very close.

Beechwood beat SK. Enrollment advantage?? I'm tired of this excuse when it comes to T & X. Lots of the bigger schools will never be competitive in football. It's in their DNA.

SK's down and Beechwood is good. Would Beechwood have beat SK in any of the past few years, I doubt it. Reason why that might have been, SK had more talent, why is that? Probably because SK had many more potential players to pull from than Beechwood did. You can't name off one or two examples and then say the rule doesn't apply.

I don't have an answer really. We have the best powerlifting team in the nation every year, and our wrestling team is starting to dominate. Basketball? Who knows, but often times many of our best athletes didn't play. They do now. I expect our basketball team to be very, very good this year. We shall see. But you see, to me, if our enrollment is why we dominate football. It should be why we would dominate everything else, and that's just not the case.

Because numbers don't really matter as much in basketball. One stud can change a team where in football one stud can get you a few wins but in the long run you have to have more.

Exactly, You don't platoon in basketball.

^ But law of averages state, that said stud would be walking or halls, and not the halls of JTown.

Didn't you already answer the question?

??????

RockMom, I hope they stay, but when you talk to the general public about HS football they seem to want something diferent. I go to KentuckyPreps.com and read sometimes and they are much worse over there in their comments about Trinity/X. Most Southern Staes have a separate Playoff between the Publics and Privates. In the movie "Blind side" Michael won the Private School Championship in Tennessee. Plus Alabama, Louisiana, Georgia have separate Championships.

My son predicts his team will beat both this season. He is a Freshman. :jump:

And why do we think that is?

Once you make the commitment, numbers help. But you have to make the commitment first. I think many schools, for whatever reason, cannot or have not made the commitment to have a good football team for their students. Undoubtedly, alumni and community who have an "ownership interest" in the team help. In such cases, a kid is playing for more than his school.

Move to a statewide 4/5 class system and have T and X on their own in a 5th/6th. The KHSAA wins with the fans and gets the big gate of an T/X game yearly.

Posing another question for all the ROCKS fans. Why isn't T just as dominate in all sports across the board on a yearly basis. I know X is dominate in golf and swimming, what other areas does T dominate in?? And I am referring to powerhouse statis, not an occasional good team.

Holmes, Mason Cty and LexCath seem to be perinial football and basketball powers yearly.

I am hoping this is intended as a joke.
