Currently have a student at WKU and we attend a couple of games a year. Looking forward to seeing Travis Elliott as a Hilltopper!

How long does it take to recover from this type of injury?

6 months usually have seen some kids come back in 4 but back to 100% probably 6 - 9 months.

From a fan perspective I can only imagine what I would feel if we lost Vocke for the year. From a personal growth perspective, Travis now has a chance to use his leadership skills off the field. He can become another coach and inspire those around him and those coming up to follow his work ethic and be the best they can be. Good luck with the Hilltoppers. Better days ahead.

Travis is an inspration to all his peers on the football field. He has made him self into to the player he is by his total commiment to the sport through his didication to training and hard work in practices daily. I have been fortunate to know Travis and his family since he was 9 years old. Great parent support and a kid even at that age you could see would become a special athlete, he was above average in all sports he played, he ended up chosing football, and we have all been lucky to watch him grow and preform up to this point. I look forward to going to WKU and watch him once again. There is nothing that will stop this young man, yes, this is a big bump in the road, but as everyone has stated before me, he will over come this and I wouldn't be surprised if we could we could him playing some where down the road on Sunday afternoons.

4 months on a ACL? I would say 6 at the bare minimum and that's not including the mental rehab/fear of doing it again.

I wish Travis all the best. He will battle thru this the same way he battled thru defenses. It has been awesome to watch this young man on the football field during high school and I look forward to seeing him on the football field in college.

That's what I struggled with after my last knee surgery was the psychological aspect, my injury was similar in that it was non contact, drove the lane, pulled up hard at the free throw line for a jumper and my knee just kept on going. That's been about 8 years ago now but I still think about it.

Tough break young man. Be smart in your rehab. Don't risk re-injuring yourself in your rush to prove yourself tough. Football is a great game; but it nonetheless is only a game. Best of luck to you in the future, both in and outside of football.

I said some kids come back in 4. It is possible. I have seen it, heck I have even seen a kid come back in 3 and he played soccer and came back perfectly healthy with no problems.

Tough break for Elliott and Ryle, I wish him a speedy recovery and good luck at the next level.

I agree with you 100%. Have had this done 3 times. Do what your P.T. tells you. I also agree with John Anthony. The mental part is the hardest. Good Luck tomorrow. Keep your head up.

Yes, be smart with your rehab TE. Look forward to seeing you at WKU in the seasons to come.

I was really happy to see this in the article:

Elliott committed in May to play at Western Kentucky University and Warner said Western Kentucky coach Willie Taggart already has called Elliott to assure him the scholarship offer still stands.
