Is anyone really going to challenge Highlands or Trinity in their Classes?

Lets be honest, who is really going to be a threat to these teams this year?

The Birds took care of Boyle Co handedly and Trinity pretty much worked Highlands in a Scrimmage which tells me there is not another team in the state that will challenge the Rocks.

This is not arrogance, trust me, I abhor it on this board. I am simply trying to figure out who can honestly challenge these teams and why.

Put me in the camp that believes CovCath, LexCath and Boyle can defeat Highlands in November. Western is another team that may get two chances to defeat Highlands as well.

I already know that the players at Highlands don't think their road is as easy as you guys believe.

That's because the players are smarter than most of us and they're the ones that have to DO it, not talk about it.

I agree with you. I may be wrong, but from a distance this Highlands team just doesn't seem as dominating as the past two. I think CCH is definitely better than they have been in several years and they almost beat Highlands last year. I can't say what chance Lex Cath or Boyle has but I think they do have a chance to beat Highlands. So I don't see Highlands as the lock that they were the past few years.

Trinity on the other hand ... it is going to surprise me a lot if anyone can challenge them.

Depends on what you mean by "challenge" or "be a threat." If you mean "will be favored against" or "it will be a toss up" going into the game, I doubt it. HHS is the Champion of a different class and beat the 2x defending Champion in its 1st and only game of the season. They should be favored against any 4A team on the rest of the schedule.

If, however, you mean (and I suspect you don't) "Are Highlands and Trinity good enough to play a mediocre game against any of their Class 4A / 6A opponents and still win comfortably?," I would say "No way." I think 2011 4A is a much more difficult road to Bowling Green than 5A has been the past 3 years. There are teams on the East side of the bracket that have quality programs, history and good 2011 personnel (CCH, Lex. Cath, Boyle, Johnson Central, etc.). If the Birds read their press clippings and fail to improve as the season goes along, it only takes 1 bad game by a bunch of teenagers to derail 6 mo. worth of hard work. I am confident that the HHS Coaching Staff will remind them of that fact.

Interesting observation after one game.

But they are always better in November than they are in August.
