Is anyone really going to challenge Highlands or Trinity in their Classes?

Featured Replies

But they are always better in November than they are in August.

As are Boyle, LexCath and CovCath.

Interesting observation after one game.

It's no different than predicting no one will challenge Highlands for the 4A title....after one or two games.

That's because the players are smarter than most of us and they're the ones that have to DO it, not talk about it.

Okay.....so the players are smart enough to know it isn't a lock for them to win the title and the fans aren't as smart as the players? Is that what you are saying?

I think St X will be a load to handle by playoff time and could pull the upset. Other than them, I really don't think so. Trinity will likely handle them rather easily in a few weeks, but, they also have some very tough and physical games ahead of them and injuries could always play a part. Xs defense will have to improve alot, but, they could do it because they have an offense that could put up some points.

I think there are several teams capable of beating Highlands. They'll be underdogs, but, still have enough talent to match up should they play an error free game and get a break or 2. Cov Cath, Boyle, Lex Cath, John Cen, Western all have a decent shot while Lone Oak & Knox Central would have an outside longshot.

The only team beating HHS is HHS. CovCath is the one team that remotely scares me..CovCath is last years Ryle in my opinion..

Everybody puts there pants on the same. Its still a game and they will be played. I can only speak for the team I know the most about,,, Male, and no one is afraid of the Rocks and looks forward in playing them...Same as the Jvs and Freshmen.

Highlands will be and should be the favorite in every game they play this year.

However.....

Highlands is not a lock to win the 4A title.

I agree... You still have too play the games.

I expect some good ones too. I know the season just started but I absolutely cannot wait for the playoffs to hit round 3. Going to be a lot of fun in 4A this year. I plan to go to BG for the 4A regardless of the two teams playing in it.

That was my initial statement.

I know.

Maybe that is part of the reason. I haven't seen enough out of the guys on this team at the varsity level to have strong feelings about how good they are. You have the studs in Towles and the Bruns', but I don't know the rest of the crew well enough yet.

Trinity plays St.X in two weeks, might be toughest game of the year for the rocks. (Cincy)

The Ohio schools do give me pause. I don't think we will dominate them by any stretch of the imagination. Last season with much the same team we squeaked by Elder and home and lost to Cincy X at home. With the games on their turf I can't imagine them being any easier this time around.

In the case of this particular question though I think we will be fine in our class. St. X could sneak up on us, Male and Manual could beat us on an off night, but I really don't look at either team as much of a threat comparatively.
