August 28, 201115 yr Yes I did, and that is true at times. A girl wants some type of sex with a guy of any age, and she gets caught, then blames the boy so her parents won't punish her. Regardless if she wanted to have sex or not, doing something to the 18+ is not going to solve the parents problem, they have a girl who is sexually active, and willing! Do parents actually think it's the first time their girl had some type of sex? Why do you have a "blame the victim" thing going on? The parents didn't commit a crime, Sullivan did. Sexual activity with a 7th grader as a high school senior? Seriously? I have to say that this sentence in your post disturbed me particularly: Regardless if she wanted to have sex or not, doing something to the 18+ is not going to solve the parents problem, they have a girl who is sexually active, and willing! If she did not want to have sex (which is not what is being alleged), then calling her sexually active now is a slap in the VICTIM'S face.

First to SSC, Yes, I usually do that, as one member mentioned to me in Pvt, there are two sides to this, not saying the other side is innocent or right. But, this all will come out in the suit. TBG, It's not "blaming the victim", maybe go back and re-read what I have posted? I said if what I heard was true about how she allowed it, IF that is true. I said it happens, where a girl gets caught and blames the male and the advancements were not wanted and forced. IF, and ONLY IF she was a willing participant, then regardless of what happens to this male, the parents still have an issue with their daughter, NOT saying that is case here, just IF it was. **UPDATE** Maybe I should have been more clear on the "Regardless if she wanted to have sex or not" , What I meant to come out is about how she is not able to consent, meaning regaurdless if she is legally able to consent or not.

I have to agree with a couple of the other posters, I find your comments in this thread very disturbing. As I posted above, there is nothing a 13 year old can do that mitigates an 18 year old sexually abusing her. NOTHING!! It is black and white with no gray area and no explanation possible. Sullivan already admitted his guilt so there is no question on that front. One question for you. If your 13 year old daughter were accosted in this manner, how would you handle it?

For those of us that are parents, is there anyone here that would not have "visited" Mr. Sullivan and his deviant son in person? Not saying it would necessarily be the right thing to do, but at least for me I think some level of rational thinking goes out the window and rage/frustration takes over if someone does this to my 13-year daughter.
August 28, 201115 yr Wow, just read the link. What is going on at WV? Very disturbing to see them protecting this sexual predator. Zero excuse, and what the heck is Trame doing issuing a gag order on his team? I agree with Guru. If WV was involved in a cover up, then they should be penalized in direct proportion to the violation which is very serious.

I did read your posts. All of them. It seems that you have issues with what the girl did and what the parents did, but not for what Sullivan did.
August 28, 201115 yr Here is a link to the actual suit with more detail than the article: 62. As a condition of that guilty plea, Vance was prohibited from attending anyevents at Walton Verona Schools. Despite the School Defendants’ knowledge of this condition, they allowed Vance to attend School Defendants’ sporting events. Also, after Vance’s conviction, the School Defendants advertised their summer basketball campwith a flyer that featured a picture of Vance on the front. The School Defendants reinstated Vance’s uniform number “5” by allowing his friend use that number midseason as part of a tribute to “Keep 5 alive.” In addition, at the School Defendants annual awards banquet, Coach Dan Trame publicly commended Vance, stating it was a shame he was prevented from finishing the season with his WVH School team. http://www.courthousenews.com/2011/08/26/KyHS.pdf Wow! I sure hope that isn't true Dan Trame...
August 28, 201115 yr TBG and VOR, I am not saying Sullivan is anywhere innocent. But attempt to read my posts objectively? If you were a judge or jury you have to have your mind clear of any thoughts one way or the other on the matter, parent or not! I NEVER said it was the girls fault did I? NO! ALL I said was these are accusations! The family seems to be suing anyone and everyone, as I said "SEEMS", attorneys sometimes do that to try and make things worse than they are and make more things stick. Again, these are accusations, that is why we have judges and juries, to sort things out. Yes! Him being with her was wrong! All I said is what I heard from reliable sources, not saying they are correct, again that is what the court system is there for. BUT, eventhough it would still be wrong for him to be with her even IF she agreed to it willingly, the parents have other issues to deal with as well. IF that is the case, I am NOT saying he shouldn't be punished! Not even close to saying or even thinking that! As I said before, how did this go from a sexual assult case to only a harassment and saying there was no touching at all? Is that common? As others have said, if even part of this is true, then WOW! And if certain things are true, I think there should be an investigation by the state, and as Guru mentioned in another thread, if people are found of a cover up and such rhen pensions should also be stripped! Is that even legally an option? If so then it should happen! IF this all comes out to be true

IF this all comes out to be true It would seem that Sullivan's parents have pretty big issues, too, if their son was doing this with a 7th grader. You still seem to think that the issue lies with the girl and her family. That is what 85% of your posts are about.
August 28, 201115 yr Shocking to say the least. What would you as a parent do if that were your daughter?
August 28, 201115 yr As a citizen and tax payer in this community I am shocked at this behavior by WVHS Officials. Mr. Krummen, Mr. Bennett, and Mr. Sullivan should be fired for how they handled the situation. Perhaps even having their certificates revoked for violation of the code of ethics. Vance himself should be tried and able to present a defense. But for the officials to handle the situation the way they did is a direct perversion of a sacred trust between parents, students, and school personnel. I hope WVHS gets the book thrown at them. I wonder if Mr. Sullivan is still on the coaching staff? I hope this whole mess gets straightened out and justice is served. I also hope that my fellow neighbors realize how unprofessional some of the leaders at WVHS are and demand action by the school board and superintendent.
August 28, 201115 yr You are 100% wrong in that assumption! I do agree the Sullivans have some pretty big issues! I only said IF! Another question, if an administrator or faculty member has a kid in a school they work at, shouldn't that parent be taken out of all decisions concerning their kid?
August 28, 201115 yr As others has said, I think I may end up in trouble as well, as I think I would have paid a visit to their house
August 28, 201115 yr While this whole situation is ugly to say the least, none of us on here know how we would react until we are put in the position that all parties find themselves in, until that time we are all doing nothing but SPECULATING what we would do. Bottomline: as Marty Brennaman would say, "How we lookin'..... NOT GOOD".
