Walton Verona Being Sued By Parents of 13 Year Old Girl

Agreed. If there's administration/teachers/coaches/personnel that knew about it, and covered it up...they should be gone. Sad to say, but it's whats needs to be done. But to say you're gonna saddle the school district with a hefty lawsuit that's going to do nothing but negatively impact every other student in the district for years to come is wrong. You'd be punishing the wrong (and innocent) people. Take your lawsuit and target it to the people that actually were in the wrong.

I'm not a lawyer by any means but, in Kentucky I have heard of situations where you have to sue the employer as well as the employees and everyone even remotely involved. It doesn't necessarily mean monies will be awarded to the family from all named in the law suit. Everyone has to be named to have access to information from all parties which will sometimes point to actual guilty parties. If you're named in a law suit you're a little more inclined to be forth coming with information you may have that points to the root of the guilt if it isn't you that's the guilty party.

Sweeping indictment. Everyone must be sued, and it can sort be sorted out later.

When is this thing going to court? Didn't his dad coach at Campbell County?

Think that was his grandfather.
Think that was his grandfather.

It is his father.

Grandfather Dan Senior was a long time Superintendant at Newport and Campbell Co. Coached Football at Ludlow. Son Dan Jr. used to be Head Basketball Coach at Walton-Verona and later Campbell Co. He is now a teacher at Walton-Verona.

I know I am coming in on this a bit late, and haven't read all the posts, but I have a question. It seems a teacher was the first to discover the abuse. Aren't teachers required by law to report abuse to the police? What teacher would not immediately report this to the police AND the girl's parents?

Interesting that you brought this up as someone down south asked me about this last week.

Great question ! As a WVHS school tax payer, I am VERY INTERSTED in knowing what the administration is doing with my tax dollar !!!
