August 30, 201115 yr This is from the courthousenews.com link. My comment was in relation to the charge for which he was actually convicted, which I don't believe must have been in connection with the car incident since the charge was harrassment without physical contact. I'm assuming it would have had to do with the texts or actions after the incident to "encourage" her to keep quiet.

From everything I read I am 99% sure his plea was because of happened in the car.
August 30, 201115 yr I am not taking a position one way or the other but if I was the plaintiffs I would work the entire school (WV) hard to look for possible additional victims. I think the article referenced two additional "incidents" and if there were three total my gut says there are probably a lot more. Would it matter if he was 17 instead of 18 at the time? His defense was, and I'm guessing will be, excpet for the time he was 18 becuase they don't want all that info getting out, that these were consensual actions.

Based on what I read it was forced compulsion so age doesn't matter. And the point I am making with the part you quoted is that anytime there are three of something that we know about I bet there are numerous others we don't know about.
August 30, 201115 yr Especially when your talking about something like this. It's not something someone does 3 times and never again.
August 31, 201115 yr All I can say is WOW, this is a sad case all around.. I have had dealings with a lot of the people named in this suit and I will say first off that I consider most of them to be good people. What a lack of "proper" judgement on their behalf, it will be interesting to see what the final say is in this matter. Somebody will lose their job over this. Who? No clue, but somebody will end up being the scape goat for the school system to say they have properly dealt with this. Maybe even more than one. After the scandal involving the guy who was on the school board posing as an attorney, then this, I would say WV has some serious things to figure out. As a soon to be father of a daughter this is something that I fear the most, especially with the findings that kids are aggresively sexually active (sexting, sex parties, etc). I think the family has done what they felt necessary to insure that something like this never happens at WV again. Money comes and goes, but if all reported in the court document is true their daughter was taken complete advantage of and was harrassed blatantly by "people" at WV (students & some employees). Sad. I hope for those I know's sake that they will not be fired and have cert's revoked, but when you play with fire, you run the risk of getting burnt. Only time will tell..

And the point I am making with the part you quoted is that anytime there are three of something that we know about I bet there are numerous others we don't know about. I understand your point and it's worth exploring. What I'm saying is he is going to say any encounter was consensual and it will be a he/she said. That was what some people were and still are saying about this one. It wil be very interesting to hear what comes out in court. My general question and I asked Clyde about this months ago when Clyde said they young man was never arrested is how did this arrest record get removed from the interenet? When he was first arrested I saw the link on what I believe was Boone County jail's website and it no longer exists.
August 31, 201115 yr There is no excuse for a senior in high school to mess around with a 7th or 8th grader. I don't care how "willing" a girl is. Mr. Sullivan needs to take a look at what he has/is allowed/allowing and begin to take responsibility for this mess as much as his son does. Don't make stupid decisions and you won't look like a stupid person. Both Sullivans look stupid right now.

That fact that he plead guilty to something as it relates to this case certainly swings the he said/she said in her favor. As far as court records go, I was a part of that system for a long time and something disappearing doesn't surprise me in the least...
August 31, 201115 yr As I stated in another thread, I sure hope NewCath did not know this situation. As an alum I am hoping that this wasn't public knowledge, especially the fact it wasn't the first situation. I believe in 2nd chances, I'm not as thrilled with 3rd and 4th chances. I also believe playing HS sports is a privledge, and not a right. No matter how well you throw or hit the ball.

Of course they are going to claim they didn't know all that and we will probably never know the extent of NCC's knowledge. If NCC or the Catholic powers that be speak one word about the situation they are fools.

If NCC or the Catholic powers that be speak one word about the situation they are fools. Agreed. While I would like to know what was known and not known, silence will be NewCath's best position.

Since you were such "a part of that system for a long time" you would think that you would understand that you would need to wait till ALL THE FACTS come out.........just sayin. It really surprises me how quick you have been to jump on the band wagon. Edited September 1, 201115 yr by Weakside grammatical error
September 1, 201115 yr Since you're were such "a part of that system for a long time" you would think that you would understand that you would need to what till ALL THE FACTS come out.........just sayin. It really surprises me how quick you have been to jump on the band wagon. Be specific Weakside, where have I jumped on the bandwagon and did you miss these two posts by me: It would be nice for someone to blow up a couple of the allegations. Remember everyone, the plaintiffs can allege anything they want in a suit. Kind of like throwing a bunch of mud against the wall to see what sticks. AND I am not taking a position one way or the other but if I was the plaintiffs I would work the entire school (WV) hard to look for possible additional victims. I think the article referenced two additional "incidents" and if there were three total my gut says there are probably a lot more.
September 1, 201115 yr No, I didn't miss those posts by you. As the moderator/originator, I feel as though you would have taken a more neutral side on this topic. Of course, I realize what sells memberships for this website. I do not have the time, nor the patience or the technological expertise to go back and copy all of your posts on this thread and others where it seems to me that you've been more than one sided. Let's just say that we'll agree to disagree on your stance. I certainly do not agree with what has happpened. I think it has been terrible - for both parties. There has been a lot of lives that have been turned upside down. My simple point is this - the lawsuit is someone's opinion on what happened, it is up to the court to decide whether or not that opinion is something that can be validated or not. I do know the Sullivan family and they are good people. Obviously, there are going to be some people on here that have different opinions. I'm okay with that but rushing to judgement and making decisions about giving schools the "death penalty" without hearing both sides is ludicrious.
