Praying is simple talking to Jesus and its kinda like posting on here, just simple, the only thing Jesus wants us to pray and sometimes with a lot of folks around a Mircophone will help folks in the back.

 

One of my sons goals is to lead the team in prayer, still shy being a freshman but who knows the Holy Spirit might guide him to do it the next game. This is a team prayer, and here in Jefferson County I haven't heard in done for everyone in a long time.

Thank God I wasnt raised that way. It bothers me not to take my hat off for that stuff. Give respect, earn respect. Just another person trying to smooth talk people into thinking they are right and then the corruption of society begins.

See, you don't even SEE what people are saying, you take things the wrong way, and your interpretation is WAY off!

 

I take my hat off and stand for the National Anthem! Did you conveniently miss that point? It deserves that respect, and not only to the Nation Anthem of the USA, I will do it for any National Anthem being played in my presences! Standing for God Bless America and removing your hat is saying it is right up there with the National Anthem, which it is NOT! The Anthem loses the respect when you give that same type of respect to other songs! This ALL started in NYC after 9/11! Play the song! GREAT! But do not treat it as a National Anthem!

 

The thing you didn't know is I SANG it while I was sitting! Did you miss the point where I said I really like God Bless America? It's either you missed it like many other things, or you decided to ignore it!

 

Also, you keep talking about the rights of people, Christians, yours, and others, YET you try to slam someone who does not agree with your views or do the exact same thing you do! So your rights are actually demands? If you do something everyone HAS to do the same thing?

 

From this one post of yours I quoted, it shows why people should not have a pray over a PA! As you would slam and look down on the people who do not stand, remove their hats and pray like everyone else, so where are those peoples rights who do not want to do it?

 

For the record, I have NO problem with prays over a PA anywhere! For myself! But I see people who would do what you do, call people out, slur them, and say they are corrupting society!

I find it as well as the opening prayer before congressional sessions (both federal and state) to be terribly inconsistent with the policy that prevents it at a football game.

This is how it boils down in my mind. Prayers offered at public events are either all permissible or all impermissible under the Constitution. It can't be okay at some (Inauguration, Congressional sessions, etc.) & then not okay at others (graduation services, football games, etc.).

 

People jump all over the guy at the football game & say such a notion is Constitutionally forbidden, yet they're silent when Rick Warren or Franklin Graham or Kirbyjohn Caldwell offers an invocation or benediction (not sure which it is) during an Inaugural ceremony.

 

For me, it's either always permissible or always impermissible. One or the other. I don't see how there's room for gray area here.

When President Reagan made this comment, did Our Pledge contain "one nation under God?" So what exactly is the debate? You seemed to have ignored the part about saying the Lord's Prayer and a U.S. taxpayer-paid chaplain/preacher beginning every session of Congress with prayer uninterrupted since 1777. I hope you don't believe everything you read on Wikipedia.

He couched his viewpoint in fallacies whether you want to admit it or not. Fallacies I pointed out. People are always trying to say the motto and/or pledge show what our founding fathers thought but these things came along long after the formation of our country.

Those who are giving the business (Eddie Haskell) to Mountain Ref, he is just frustrated as some of us are with the way our nation has changed. When we cannot say a prayer asking Jesus to protect our kids playing a sport where there are so many injuries well its sad. The prayer is not asking to save souls, asking for money, asking people to come to church, asking to believe in Jesus, its asking for protection for all the players and the people involved.

 

Back in 50s/60s/70s this was never even brought up, in fact if they didn't say a prayer there would be a back lash.

In fact it did not appear on money until the Civil War and its origins might very well have only been as far back as the last stanza of the "Star Spangled Banner."

That's the whole purpose of "Annuit Coeptis" -which litterally means " To approve" - and that is why it is around the Eye of Providence or The All-Seeing Eye of none other than the man Himself. I think you can get all this info on wikipedia. Personally, it wouldn't bother me one bit if they took "In God We Trust" off all currency (even though that would basically cause a hell storm because all money now that says the whole God Trust thing would be invalid.). No one is going to take the seal off which says enough for me.

He wants other religions out there so we can choose him, if we didn't have them and everyone was Christian, we would be closer to a new or one world order. Most of what I have read regarding the seal reverse indicates "providence approves." While many would equate and appoint this to mean that "God approves" many of the founding fathers (the three you mention included) were both deists and children of the Enlightenment. Their use of God language was much more esoteric than many realize and their beliefs were far from 21st century Evangelicalism.

The thing that bothers me probably most about Ref is he claims everyone has their rights, but yet people choose to do or say something different that him then he gets all bent out of shape, points fingers, calls names, points out, says they are causing troubloe and corrupting society, and whatever else! He claims everyone has rights, but yet I decide to sit during a song which is NOT the national anthem and does NOT deserve the same respect as the national anthem he wants to throw me under the bus! LOL! There are people who want the national anthem to be change, I disagree, even though I really like the song, Our national anthem IS our national anthem and should not be changed!

 

I was looking up God Bless America and baseball last night and found some disturbing things. As I said a few posts ago the playing of the song at baseball games began just after 9/11, it's a song, not a prayer! Not even the national anthem. In the begining of 2002 the Yankees put in a policy preventing any movement during the song! So much for freedom to do as you please?

People not allowed to move during the song? Used chains to block fans from entering the aisles? So, now it is not a choice, it is a demand that everyone must do what the others are doing? You see people moving around during the national anthem and you never hear of such tactics to keep people still.

 

Also, in New Jersey at a minor league park two teens who were some where behind home plate were kicked out as they did not stand during the song, the owner of the club was nearby and came yelling at them that no one sits during the song in his ball park and had them removed. The two teens won a lawsuit over it.

 

Now, as I mentioned in another post, myself I have no problem with a prayer at games, I'll stand and all, no issue with me. But, it's what happens to those who do not feel like joining in? From the Yankees and the minor league teams views I guess if people do not want to be kicked out they MUST stand? Where does it end? If someone does not want to stand during a prayer or does not want to pray, will they be kicked out as well? THAT is the real issue here, as many feel it is looked on not as a choice, but a demand!

I do beleive everyone has rights, but when things are taken away from hundreds because of a few, then that is what bothers me. I do not like to be felt like I am being demaded to do anything either.
