Why can't it just be a moment of silence? Then whoever wants to pray can do so privately, and those who are opposed can reflect on the game or what they had for dinner or whatever else they'd like to think about. Why would that not be sufficient?

It may not be just one. Maybe only one spoke up. Maybe others are offended by it, but don't feel like making a big deal out of it.

 

It's not taking away from anything. You are still allowed to pray. I'm not sure why you aren't understanding that. Not a single person's rights have been infringed upon by this. Not one.

I feel as if I say my prayer in private outside on the steps or kneeling at the bottom of my bed i seem to be closer to God and having a personal one on one talk. But I in no way would ever take the rights of a public prayer away form the ones who have always done it.

 

So yes you can pray in private to yourself at games, I do and I am sure make a scene when done outloud. but why should one atheist take away from a prayer asking to keep everyone safe.

Jesus says to pray, enuff said. He prayed, he also tells us NOT to pray just to be seen, thats a sin, "go into the closet to pray," but this is different, in a group setting when injuries could happen he wants us to pray OUTLOUD.

 

Its not gonna hurt anyone, won't take very long, and if an unbeliever had a son playing in the game...and he happens to get injured....

So every preacher who does this is just for show and attention. I say that is a smack in the face of those who do it for the real reason. Some may do it for that, I hope not, but yes I am sure it happens.
