I'm sure that's true.

 

But legally speaking, what is the difference between the two? Both prayers pastor-led. Both prayers at events sponsored by government (political & public school). Both prayers, I assume, prayed in the name of Jesus (I know Warren's was).

Don't know, maybe our legal members can weigh in. It could be that the Supreme Court has never heard a case concerning the inauguration, could be that they limited their opinions to schools, maybe it has something to do with one being a paid event and the other not. It would be interesting to find out.

I agree, neither should be constitutional.

I apologize, let me clarify my response in that I agreed that there is no difference in my opinion in the two events. It is my opinion that both should be unconstitutional.

How I love to read how everyone wants prayer, but how you all keep saying we should do it in private. [highlight]So much for being a good witness and spreading the word.[/highlight] I love also how you try to sugarcoat it all and make it seem like it is ok to not publically acknowledge God and how it isnt right to go against the poor atheist who dont believe.

 

When I'm at a football game or any place other than Church I don't want a good witness or have to listen to someone spreading their version of the word!When the people of christianity decide to disband all denominations except for one then I will be ready to hear the truth!Until then I do not want americanized christian hypocrisy pushed on me.:thumb:

I agree 100! It was pre-game PUBLIC prayer! Also Ref fails to understand how his title is wrong and misleading! It makes it appear that the team was prevented to pray in the locker room or on the sideline by themselves.

I'm as conservative as they come and I would have issues at a public school of a pre-game prayer over the PA.

 

But I also have issues with the "family" that interceded not being identified. If you are willing to press the issue then you should be willing to openly face the repercussions.

There was a pre-game prayer said over the PA.last Friday at the Danville/Lincoln Co. game @ Lincoln Co.

Here in Illinois, the IHSA has forbidden prayer prior to all games, even those between two Catholic schools. If you want to be a member of the state association, you can't have pregame prayers.

Out of curiosity...do you have issues with the public prayer offered at the Presidential inauguration? Often times led by incredibly prominent Christian ministers? (i.e. Rick Warren, Franklin Graham, Billy Graham)

It is a shame that there are people out there who would destroy an otherwise harmless tradition just to advance their own sick agenda. It's abusing the constitution in the worst way.
