Most schools do not pray over the speaker, haven't heard it in years, I already said this, but I'd love to have it brought back. Rehashing.....

 

As a school does this it allows everyone who wants to join in with the prayer in case they forgot to ask Jesus for his blessing.

 

They might be to excited about the game starting...I know, because I have done this.

 

As Christians we are taught to be a good example to others, so if anothet person didn't like the prayer, he should just be quite and not run to the courts, that is what we would do.

 

RockMom, a Hail Mary is used at the end of the game... I thought she knew football. :idunno:

Oh, I answered it simply by asking the question fully knowing what your answer would be.

 

Your answer is the problem. Not everyone there believes as you and I do. So, let's not exclude them. Two options in order to not exclude all other possibilities: Don't say a public prayer OR start the prayer service about 30 minutes before the game and read all possibilities PLUS a comment about those that do not believe in any god.

 

It's a football game. Let's just get on with it and let each mom, dad, and friend say a quiet prayer for the players. Same thing is accomplished.

 

If your TRUE goal is to have your god look over the players then the method of praying should be of no concern. You're not being stopped from praying. I'm not being stopped from praying.

I'm not 100% positive but I'm pretty sure Clyde and I are as far apart as two people can be on religious beliefs. But I find him to be extrememly diplomatic in this thread and nothing like "my way or the highway" as you suggest. It's posters like you and MTN Ref who are saying it can only be one way. Let's get our facts straight before we make accusations.

Well I am proud to be called a Christian. a good one I am not, but no Christian is. I am not for keeping anyone out of the game, if i can be tolerant, then why cant they?

Tolerance is accepting that not everyone believes how you do and thus not forcing a public prayer down people's throats for your own showboating...

Jesus commands for us to pray and to ask in his name.

You are still lost. NOBODY is saying you can't pray. Not once has that been said. In fact, we've told you to pray (or at least I did).

 

And where in that verse does it say that Jesus commands you to pray outloud at a H.S. football game? Seriously, I'd love to see this answered by you.

Thats what wrong with the world today, we have been taught we must be tolerant, politically correct. Why must I tolerate something that is sin? I am a Christian. I believe and try to treat everyone as I would want to be treated. Do I think that the Muslims, Buddhists,etc will be going to heaven? No, thats contrary to what the Bible says. Now is that politically correct? No. This is like talking to the Pharisees and Sadducees(SP?). I stand with mountainref and Larry guys. And Clyde, what do you believe? You say one thing and then argue the other way? Hmm.

In that case, wouldn't it be easier just to get rid of all the non-believers? That way you won't be forced to tolerate anything.
