Conner, Cooper, Scott, Grant and South Oldham: Yes, Beechwood and S.O. for the District championship and Beechwood wins this district, typically; every year.

Would love to know more about Conner, Cooper, and Scott expectations this year. Pegasus Sports will be airing all of the South Oldham games this year and my announcers saw Conner once last year - but I know they graduated key players - and have never seen Cooper or Scott's football teams. We are familiar with Grant County...

If they weren't in 5A, maybe, but 5A happens to be a weak sister this year. Conner could win it all come December and be the weakest state champ in Kentucky by a longshot. It's also August.

If this would have been Bellevue, Ludlow or Dayton, I could see your point, but Beechwood is not your average 1A team. Those other 3 teams in their district may not score on them this season. They will beat SK handily.

 

Don't know if I would say handily, but I do believe their chances of beating Simon Kenton this year are not too bad.

State champs might be a stretch. But let's not forget Conner returned 5 out of 22 starters including Fogle and Mulderink going both ways. Beechwood returned 19 out of 22 according to the KY Enquirer. This scrimmage was probably a mixture of experience from Beechwood and in-experience from Conner. Beechwood was clearly the better team. But in October this is probably a much closer game.

I think Conner would have fared better on defense if healthy. I believe they were missing their starting LB corp.

 

Offense has good weapons.

 

Defense will be better when healthy.

I thought the bigger schools advantage was depth..at least that is what I am reading/learning in the other threads.

You should read your own words of wisdom in other posts. BW is a very good team and will be playing in December. I'm sure the men coaching Conner have seen what adjustments need to be made and they will address. The have 2 weeks to correct the mistakes.

 

You can close whatever door you need to, it will give the boys from Hebron something to kick open come district play.

No I read and understood fully your comments. I don't believe you are going to be contending for any state title this year in 5A no matter how weak it is and your improvement still will not put you in the hunt. Next year more realistic.

A chance, yes. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. Beechwood has to face 6A SK, 6A Dixie, 4A CCH, 2A champ NCC and a couple other higher class teams.

 

I don't think Conner would have a chance to win state in the class of there choice. Funny thing is 5A might be the weakest class in the state

That's assuming Conner is a power in 5A. If Beechwood beats a middle of the road 5A school, that may not prove much either way.

Why even open the book? 5A is weak and Conner isn't worth the Cliff notes.
